I have a need to execute build on a configuration under a specific user ID. How can I do this? I cannot switch the agent service to run as this user ID becuase I need to use this user or production ID only for this particular configuration. How can i do this in Teamcity?
Take a look at runAs TeamCity plugin.
Also new RunAs TeamCity plugin for windows agents is available.

I'm working with WSO2 Identity Server and I'm curious if there is a way to run the product in developer mode without building each component of identity server. I found a way to start the "My Account" component in dev mode by following this tutorial ( https://is.docs.wso2.com/en/5.11.0/develop/setting-up-my-account-in-a-dev-environment/ )
but I want to be able to modify different components such as recovery-portal and authentication-portal by forking and cloning the required github repositories and starting the entire app in developer mode in order to see the code changes in real-time.
AFAIK the developer mode will work only for the MyAccount and Console. You can refer to the doc for more details on that.
The recovery portal, the authentication portal etc. cannot be tried with the developer mode. However, there are two ways that you can try this.
Build the war files manually and add them to the WebApps directory. If the server is running, war file changes will automatically get deployed. If the server is not running, you have to delete the existing directory and restart the server.
You can do the changes to the JSPs that are deployed inside the pack. Once the changes are done, you can save the changes and the changes will automatically get deployed.
I have C++ application running as service. And I want to start my NSIS installer silently from that service. Is it possible? If yes how can I achieve this?
If you want to start the installer as the same user as your service and this service runs at integrity level high or system then you can just use CreateProcess or ShellExecute to start the installer.
If you want to start the installer as a user that is currently logged in you need to use CreateProcessAsUser but things get complicated if you go this route. There might not be any logged in users or there might be more than one. Once you have decided which user you want to start the process as then you can get their token with WTSQueryUserToken.
I started using Eclipse with TFS (Team Foundation Server) to control file versions, but now I need to control the build/compile access. The idea is similar to the version control system, but it is now related to the project and machines.
Is there a way to control/deny the compilation of specific files with a plugin or not inside Eclipse?
It seems what you want is to manage users to access the project. You can add the users to the Readers group or set permission for a single user.
Check this article for more details:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252477.aspx
If you are asking about permissions to repositories, VisualSVN Server fully supports path-based authorization and you can manage it through VisualSVN Server Manager console, Windows PowerShell and Repository Configurator tool.
Read the article KB33 | Understanding VisualSVN Server authorization to learn more about the permissions.
BTW, I second #alroc's comment:
Why would one use a version control system to control what source
files are compiled in the build process?
It seems to me that you are planning to use some awkward approach to control your builds. How does built relate to your version-control system? You should tell the build machine which projects and how to build them. Version control system can only control the authorization part in this case.
End user can install my application from Marketplace Apps. But When they uninstall from marketplace app, I didn't get uninstall information and my application starts to get user details from that domain using admin sdk ,It returns '403:Requested domain is not authorized' and then i understand End User has removed app from marketplace apps .So I wanted to capture this uninstallation information so that i can stop tasks related to that domain.
Another thing is If end user install app on particular org unit. I am unable to get that org unit name, path etc. So how can i get that installed org details ? So that it will be easy to get users from that org unit using admin sdk.
Not sure of a way that it will tell you, but a more long term solution might be to check on it yourself. You can use the Google Apps Marketplace api, https://developers.google.com/apps-marketplace/v2/reference/, to get information about domains using your app.
You can get customer license info which tells you if the application is licensed or not in the state field.
https://developers.google.com/apps-marketplace/v2/reference/customerLicense#resource
You could possibly check this once a day for your existing customers to check if they still have it installed, or if they have uninstalled it.
I'm just getting started with Jenkins CI, and had a question which I'm
struggling to find answers for in the docs or online. Wonder if
someone might be able to offer some advice?
I'm attempting to use it to automatically deploy my dev and stage
branches of my Django projects which are hosted on a Github
organisation repository (ie, private). At the moment I have a user
"django" who can access the Github repo via a Github deploy key. My
Jenkins user can't access the repo. What's the best practice way of
dealing with this - should I be creating an ssh deploy key for the
"jenkins" user, or should I be getting Jenkins to run as my "django"
user? I've seen mention if a HUDSON_USER in a newsgroup post, but I
can't find reference to this in the docs.
Many thanks!
Ludo.
I have not worked with Github and so this answer may not apply at all, but we do use Jenkins and we use both CVS & Subversion for source control.
In our system, we use different username/password combinations for all three (Jenkins, CVS, Subversion), and it has had no adverse effects yet (it has been a year since we deployed Hudson - currently building 50+ projects).
As long as you can get Jenkins to access the repo using your github deploy key, you shouldn't have to change Jenkins to run as django, or create a jenkins user key for github. Personally, I would keep them separate.
Did you try this?
Contact your OS admin team to grant to access to perform few operations on your version control using SUDO access.
OR
run the command using
sudo -H -u <username> command parameters..
