Where can I get a list of easily parseable country codes and names? Note: 2 letter codes wanted. Examples:
au,Australia
uk,United Kingdom
us,United States
etc
The ISO 3166-1 list of country codes is what I was looking for.
For more information you can also find general information about country codes on Wikipedia and a - possibly more up to date list - ISO 3166-1 list as well.
Edit: Posting it here:

Here's a maintained repo of country codes with friendly country names in multiple languages and in many formats, including text, CSV, JSON, YAML, XML, SQL, and others:
https://github.com/umpirsky/country-list
The English CSV dump from the above repo: https://github.com/umpirsky/country-list/blob/master/data/en_US/country.csv
In case it can help anyone, I just took the list of ISO 3166 country codes and names in English and French and put them together in CSV and SQL format: http://blog.plsoucy.com/2012/04/iso-3166-country-code-list-csv-sql/
While doing that, I fixed the capitalization so names aren't all uppercase, and renamed a few countries to the name that is used on Wikipedia, so "MACEDONIA, THE FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF" became "Macedonia" for example. That should allow for shorter lists.
Feel free to use these if you want.
Take a look at ISO http://www.iso.org/iso/home/standards/country_codes/country_names_and_code_elements.htm It is not CSV but you can easily copy and paste it into a file, or you can buy the file from ISO

I have a markdown beamer_presentation. I have changed the biblio-style to apalike, but I am not getting the expected result. I used Grady et al. (2019) as an example, which is cited on the APA website as follows:
Grady, J. S., Her, M., Moreno, G., Perez, C., & Yelinek, J. (2019). Emotions in storybooks: A comparison of storybooks that represent ethnic and racial groups in the United States. Psychology of Popular Media Culture, 8(3), 207–217.
Using biblio-style: apalike I get the following result in the references:
Grady, Jessica Stoltzfus, Malina Her, Geena Moreno, Catherine Perez, and Jillian Yelinek. 2019. “Emotions in Storybooks: A Comparison of Storybooks That Represent Ethnic and Racial Groups in the United States.” Psychology of Popular Media Culture 8 (3): 207–17.
The following points are different:
Names
Year is not in parentheses
Quotation marks before and after the title
Space between volume and number
Format of page numbers.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get the correct results?

R Markdown uses a citeproc processor to handle citations unless you set the citation_package in your output config. The easiest method (and most portable, because it will also work with other output formats) is to not use bibtex but to download the apa.csl citation style definition, e.g., here, and use it with

I am a school teacher working on a document for my school to be able to request students by teacher but I'm having a lot of trouble getting the code set up to send the email to their A2/B6 teacher. The part of the process I need help with is layers into the project, so the data compiled is very complex and I've read a lot of helps from stackoverflow over the last 2 weeks but I can't find anything that shows me or that even gets me started on this specific task.
I have a row that contains emails of teachers. Below their email is a column of their students' names and next to that is another row that contains data (the requesting teacher's name). I need to write a script that will take the email in cell "A2" and send it the range of data in "A3:B20," take the email in cell "C2" and send it the range of data in "C3:D20," take the email in cell "E2" and send it the range of data in "E3:F20," and so on and so forth for 75+ teachers.
Here is a picture of my sheet
Really what my question is, IS THIS POSSIBLE? And if so do you have any ideas that could point me in the right direction, or do you have a snippet of code you could share with me to get me started. I am new to google scripts for this project but I've learned a lot.
Any help, insights, or suggestions would be really appreciated.
I have created a dummy document with computer-generated names here that shows what my sheet set up in like:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QONEAxMQLBDKwgaXc4RwH_rgb_RzlxTkHl5euSSB9Wk/edit?usp=sharing
Hopefully, this short example will help you to get started.
function myFunction() {
var hl='';
var ss=SpreadsheetApp.getActive();
var sh=ss.getSheetByName('Sheet1');
var subject='Enter Subject Here';
for(var col=1;col<sh.getLastColumn();col+=2){
var rg=sh.getRange(1,col,sh.getLastRow(),2);
var vA=rg.getValues();
var s='StudentName,RequestingTeacher\n';
var html='<table>';
html+='<tr><th>StudentName</th><th>RequestingTeacher</th></tr>';
for(var i=2;i<vA.length;i++){
html+=Utilities.formatString('<tr><td>%s</td><td>%s</td></tr>', vA[i][0],vA[i][1]);
s+=Utilities.formatString('%s,%s', vA[i][0],vA[i][1]);
}
html+='</table>';
//GmailApp.sendEmail(vA[0][0], subject, s, {htmlBody:html});
hl+=Utilities.formatString('RecipientName: %s<br />RecipientEmail:%s<br />Column: %s<br />' , vA[0][0],vA[1][0],col);
hl+=html;
hl+='<br /><br /><br />';
}
var ui=HtmlService.createHtmlOutput(hl);
SpreadsheetApp.getUi().showModelessDialog(ui, 'An Example of What Emails Body will look like.')
}
The sendEmail line is commented out and I use a dialog to show you what the emails will look like more or less.
This is what my dialog looks like:

To learn Regex, I was solving some problems to train and study. And this is the problem, i know it might not be the best way to do with Regex, and my Regex is a mess, but i liked the challenge.
Problem:
The names needs to be Title Case;
There are exceptions for some lowercase words inside;
And some Names, e.g.: McDonald, MacDuff, D'Estoile
Names with ' and - are accepted, and sometimes they are o'Brien, O'brien, O'Brien, O' Brien or 'Ehu Kali.
No whitespaces on the beggining and end of Name;
No more than one space between each Name of Full Name;
A . is accepted if not alone, e.g.: Dan . Ferdnand (isn't accepted) and Dan G. Ferdnand (is accepted)
Numbers and symbols are not accepted
However, Roman numbers are accepted and aren't Title Case, e.g.: Elizabeth II
Some names can be alone, e.g.: Akihito (Prince of Japan)
Some special characters common in some countries are accepted, e.g.: Valeh ßlÿsgÿroğlu, Lażżru Role, Alaksiej Taraškievič
Regex
The code is
^(?![ ])(?!.*(?:\d|[ ]{2}|[!$%^&*()_+|~=`\{\}\[\]:";<>?,\/]))(?:(?:e|da|do|das|dos|de|d'|la|las|el|los|l'|al|of|the|el-|al-|di|van|der|op|den|ter|te|ten|ben|ibn)\s*?|(?:[A-ZàáâäãåąčćęèéêëėįìíîïłńòóôöõøùúûüųūÿýżźñçčšžÀÁÂÄÃÅĄĆČĖĘÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏĮŁŃÒÓÔÖÕØÙÚÛÜŲŪŸÝŻŹÑßÇŒÆČŠŽ∂ð'][^\s]*\s*?)(?!.*[ ]$))+$
And the Regex101 with a validation list

What i tried so far was based on these:
regular expression for first and last name
Regular Expression to disallow two consecutive white spaces in the middle of a string
A regex to test if all words are title-case
How to use Regular Expressions (Regex) in Microsoft Excel both in-cell and loops
Use Regex to Split Numbered List array into Numbered List Multiline
Not working
I did this Regex and don't know how to make a way for it to not recognize the cases below, that are matching:
CAPITAL LETTER
AlTeRnAtE LeTtEr
And those aren't and should:
Urxan Əbűlhəsənzadə
İsmət Jafarov
Şükür Hagverdiyev
Űmid Abdurrahimov
Ġerardo Seralta
Ċikku Paris
Question
Is there a way to optimize this Regex (monster)?
And how do i fix the problems stated before on Not working?
p.s.: The list of names with examples for validation can be found on the link to Regex101.
Brief
Seeing as how you're learning Regex and haven't specified a regex flavour to use, I've chosen PCRE as it has a wide variety of support in the regex world.

Explanation
I used a define block to create definitions. You can look at each definition to see how it works. In general, I use \p{.} where . is replaced with some pointer to a Unicode character group (i.e \p{L} is any letter from any language - this will not work in most flavours of regex, but it does allow the regex to be much more simplified if available, which is why I used it).
If you need anything else explained, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll do my best, but regex101 should be able to explain anything you're wondering about regex.
I am compiling a list of video games.
At this time, I am currently using Wikipedia to do so.
As I copied ps3 games over to LibreCalc, the copied titles of the video games include citation brackets at the end of the line. Rather than remove this line by, I am trying to search and replace the brackets and their contents.
I continue to fail in this endeavor. An example below,
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny[629]
Fight Night Champion[268]
Dragon Age II[209]
Major League Baseball 2K11[427]
MLB 11: The Show[459]

Part of my problem seems to be that brackets are characters used in regular expressions.
Can some one assist me, or toss me in the right direction to solving this problem.
You can escape the brackets with a backslash so they are treated as regular characters. On that base, you could use the following regex to match all square brackets containing only digits:
\[[:digit:]*\]
When leaving the Replace with box empty, a search/replace run should remove all footnote marks in your example.
Since only the opening bracket is a special character for LO Calc, the following should work, too:
\[[:digit:]*]
I'm wondering if there is a service that to get a set of lat,long points that when connected into a polygon show the outline of a country
Ideally I would like to search by country, and get back an array of lat,long coordinates. Is there such a service?
IF you are happy to consider not using a webservice, this data is available at varying resolutions from Natural Earth. The data is in the public domain.
have a closer look here;

User:The Anome/country bounding boxes A first hack, based on all
places in the NGA GNS dataset, not (yet) properly handling latitude
wrap-round at ±180°. Country names are mapped from FIPS country codes.
This works pretty well for all countries that do not cross the 180°
meridian. Russia is a notable exception. This dataset does not include
the United States.
