I wish to use the functions of autohotkey within a C++ program.
I am currently running my scripts triggered by the c++ program- I just run them as a .bat file. This works well but the problem is that I cannot return values from the script to the c++ program.
I wish to be able to read the position of the mouse from the script and make decisions based upon this in my C++ program. My scripts do quite complex things- so doing this in autohotkey is the best solution for me- I have knowledge of C, but little of C++.
I have read about the Autohotkey .DLL - I know how to trigger it but not how to read values from it. If anyone could instruct me or even post example code of a .dll being loaded and a value sent to a script and a value returned- I would be eternally grateful!!

I'm not sure about the dll, but you could just write your own application in Autohotkey and package it along with your C++.
The communication takes place over a hidden window with an edit control and a button. You use one application to set text in the edit box, and then to click the submit button. The other application owns the window can process whatever is put into the edit control - as if you were passing a variable. Basically, that's it.

Now, that's not quite what you wanted, but the effect is the same, and you already know all the api.

A friend sent me 3 programs, which are written in C or C++. Every program has a form, which is filled and then a button is pressed to perform some calculation. The programs were written in LabWindows/CVI which I've never heard of. He asked me, if it was possible to automatically fill the forms and run the calculation to get the output. I said that one way would be, to modify the program to a console one and run it with parameters (if the number of fields is low).
Does there exist a tool, which could be used to automate the execution of such programs or, if possible, does the LabWindows/CVI have anything which could help me, besides modifying the source?

you could use some automated test programs such as http://www.sikuli.org (this is written in java), it is also nice because you can add any java code you want to improve the test and modify it if you really need something extraordinary.
another way would be creating your own "automated test program" using c++ (since you posted this with c++ tag) to create a mouse and keyboard hook that will move the mouse and type characters on your forms.

I've researched it all over StackOverflow and Google but only get results about C# and irrelevant topics, so now I have to ask. I want after 20 seconds of the application being open to close itself and open another application that is in the same folder. After I have debugged, I copy the application to the folder on my Desktop that I will eventually ZIP up. But I want the app to open another application in the folder. Say for instance ApplicationA.exe Opens and after 20 seconds it closes and ApplicationB.exe opens.
You can use the CreateProcess() winapi function which acts like fork()+exec() and then exit() the ApplicationA. Also you can use Sleep(miliseconds) for the delay.

You can open it with system("ApplicationB.exe"); and then exit. This will start ApplicationB.exe and exit ApplicationA.exe.

I believe C++ is not really the best way to go for system calls like the ones you need to do here. Maybe shell scripting would be a better option.
Anyway, the easiest way is probably writing a third program that opens ApplicationA.exe, closes it and starts ApplicaionB.exe.
I believe in C++ you'd have to use system, which you find in <cstdlib>. Yes, it is a C feature, not a C++ one, and its use is not encouraged, to put it mildly.

I got the source code of version 1.2; because I dont need all the complexity of version 2;
I just need a simple Command Prompt, with text that comes on to the screen letter by letter.
I dont need most of the builtin functions offered by Console, like Transparency, Taskbar Icon, etc.
The source code base is pretty small with only about 5 files.
The main class file seems to be Console.cpp;
Since console is like a GUI application, things dont get written to the STDOUT.
but heres what happens;

And that handle apparently writes to the console;

Now what I want to be able to do; Is somehow read the handle; see what text it has; And throw in a loop with a ::Sleep(20) method in it; to make sure that text appears letter by letter.

Steinbach I wrote the psuedo code for making the sleep command(in java) I also made use of it in every other java program I wrote, but the disadvantage was that it will work only for my programs and not every program run in the command prompt, but what I dont know is code to make a console, a windows console subsystem program, I wish it was possible with java, so that I could use it on linux too, but now, let me ask you exactly what I had in mind...
A program which simply, took input from the screen, send it to cmd.exe for processing, and sent back the reply, and all I have to do is throw in a sleep command between every character...

This Console.cpp seems like a console emulator, meaning it runs OTHER programs. You don't need the source code, you can run existing console applications.
STD_INPUT_HANDLE, STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE and STD_ERROR_HANDLE are the windows handles for STDIN, STDOUT and STDERR. They basicly does the same with only a few differences in how to use it.
If you want to integrate the console into your code, then you have to understand it, and find its own output function and call that. But it won't be any standard handle or things like that.
I want to create an editor in C++ using SDL & OpenGL and have decided to use the win32 api to access the window bar menus (for file, edit and so on) and it seems quite simple, but I don't know how to create a "file-> open" file browser/loader... I'm hoping it's quite simple but I'm finding it hard to look up any tutorials on google because of the phrasing...
I just want to have an "open" or "import" option in the file menu that will open a standard windows file browser... then grab the file location, place it into a string then pass it into a function that is activated by selection a file... (I hope that makes sense).

Half way down the page there is a comment by "caseyd"... that's how I learnt how to use it, so that is my current understanding of win32 menus in SDL... I wanted to post the code here, but I didn't know how to paste it here in codeblocks without reformatting every line.
I'm hoping this is quite simple... Thanks to anyone who can teach me how or just point me in the right direction.
Oh, and I'm not trying to convert this to other operating systems, I just like SDL.
Use GetOpenFileName(). Note that that function blocks until the user selects a file, so if you want to continue rendering etc. in the background, make sure to run it on a separate thread.
I'm looking to add an element to my wxWidgets GUI that behaves like a terminal emulator. Not in terms of a shell which executes commands, but just the input-output setup of an application running in a terminal.
Basically, the requirements are:
Streaming input/output: When you enter a character, it is added to an input stream, and when something is piped to the terminal, it prints out immediately.
No editing: Once you type in a character, it's permanently there, since it's probably been consumed by the application running in the terminal.
Some sort of scrolling (even if it just shows a few lines or something).
It would be nice if there is something that already does this, but suggestions on how to implement this with already existing controls such as wxTextCtrl would also be welcome.
I know this is a couple weeks late, but hopefully it's still useful. I've got a project called Chameleon that uses a wxWidgets-based VT100 terminal widget, which was itself based off of a project called taTelnet. The Chameleon source is available from my website (download page here). Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it might give you some ideas. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about it.
wxWidgets supports redirecting STDOUT to a wxTextCtrl via wxStreamToTextRedirector. As for input, you could override the OnChar event in a wxTextCtrl-derived class to handle this.
