I'm having issues deleting client cookies with the cfcookie tag, I'm setting the value to "" AND changing the expiration date to now.
But I think it's resetting the cookie in the same page that it deletes it.
Is there a application (or addon for chrome,firefox) that can tell me where it's giving me cookies?
There's Fiddler, an application that logs all HTTP(S) traffic between your computer and the Internet.
1) Run Fiddler.
2) Open your site on the browser you use.
3) Look at the request and response headers on Fiddler. Any cookie set or delete will be there.

As to your specific question, verify that you're not doing a redirect after you delete the cookie. In order for the cookie to be deleted on the client, the necessary HTTP headers need to be passed to the browser, and sometimes a cflocation will prevent those headers from being sent.
Yes, look at HTTPLive Headers for FireFox. Or some other type of intercept proxy to put between the browser and the server. You can then see the HTTP headers and try to determine where the cookies are being set (or at least how often).

Underlying Motivation
Recorded a Web session and played it back.
Added a RegEx Extractor to pull out a token and then added it to subsequent requests. That helped.
However, certain requests failed with an custom application exception Security violation, please refresh.
Probably session login state is not being passed, so the website thinks the call is "stale".
I've seen this on the GUI when the session expires and you try to click a button on the site.
On comparing the cookies seem in JMeter with what I saw in the Chrome Debugger, it was clear that there were more cookies in the running application than what I had in JMeter.
Are you sure you're using HTTPS protocol because if you have secure flag and using HTTP protocol - the cookie will not be sent.
Also remove = from partner= otherwise you will end up with partner==favicon.ico

I'm working on an browser extension that authenticates with a remote server via XMLHttpRequests. In Firefox (59.0.2) I have the problem that the session cookie send by the server is not stored in the browser. When looking at the network traffic I get a Set-Cookie response from the server for every request:
Set-Cookie JSESSIONID=node01abks2u96hf84wt0i1uqwsb9879.node0;Path=/
but it seems that the cookie is never accepted or stored in the extension.
When looking at Chrome (where the extension is working) my extension includes this cookie in the request:
Cookie: io=jCX1X9rlaOhCqE0nAAAB JSESSIONID=node01abks2u96hf84wt0i1uqwsb9879.node0
However, this is not the case in Firefox. Why is Firefox is not including the cookie in the request? and why is it not storing the cookie?

Could somebody please let me know if that addon really should work? or am I doing something wrong? To trigger the problem open the debug view of the addon and select the network view. Then click the addon popup icon. This will trigger two requests to my server. The first reply contains a Set-Cookie header that is not reused in the second request.
I found the reason why it is not working. Firefox handles a request from the popup as a cross domain request and does not set the cookie for this reason. Not sure if Chrome and Firefox should behave the same here or which approach is the better one. Here is how I fixed this issue to make it work in both browsers:
On the server:
response.addHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", request.getHeader("Origin"))
response.addHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Credentials", "true")
In the popup:
connection.withCredentials = true;
I jmeter.properties I set "CookieManager.check.cookies=false" but cross domain cookies still aren't working.
For example going this guide and using their demo site setting a cookie with a domain of "blazedemo.com" works, but if I change the domain to anything else it fails.
JMeter sends only cookies that match the domain of server in the request.
The property you've set impact the way JMeter read cookies not the way it writes them.
To check, emit a http request towards one host for which you created the cookie, you'll see it works.

I am trying to make a request to my "localhost", but it seems to have cached one of the query parameters.
I tried clearing cache of my chrome browser but this does not seem to work. I went to the extent of even changing the API resource name.
Has anyone come across such an issue?
Cache-Control request header can be used but one thing to clarify
no-cache does not mean do not cache. In fact, it means on every HTTP request it "revalidate with server" before using any cached response. If the server says that the resource is still valid then the cache will still use the cached version.
while no-store is effectively asking to not cache at all and is intended not to to store anything in the cache.
I tried the solution above and it didn't work for me. What worked was restart the application. I'm using eclipse and running a spring boot application.
In case someone is using the same environment and facing the same problem it may help.
I suggest to use Postman App rather than the extension because with postman app you can do lot more cool things like you can use the console to debug your APIs, create/delete cookies and cache with excellent GUI.
I came across same situation where the request are cached in Postman. I deleted JSESSIONID cookie from Cookies section on PM rather closing the PM app, it solved my problem (means - the call reached to my localhost app) and got accurate response. Please try it if someone needs this solution.
I usually just request the data on a chrome incognito tab/firefox private tab and I guess that this just resets the cache and then it appears on my Postman app.
(I would recommend using the Postman app instead of the website as it has many more features!)
I've run into a few problems with setting cookies, and based on the reading I've done, this should work, so I'm probably missing something important.
This situation:
Previously I received responses from my API and used JavaScript to save them as cookies, but then I found that using the set-cookie response header is more secure in a lot of situations.
I have 2 cookies: "nuser" (contains a username) and key (contains a session key). nuser shouldn't be httpOnly so that JavaScript can access it. Key should be httpOnly to prevent rogue scripts from stealing a user's session. Also, any request from the client to my API should contain the cookies.
The log-in request
Here's my current implementation: I make a request to my login api at localhost:8080/login/login (keep in mind that the web-client is hosted on localhost:80, but based on what I've read, port numbers shouldn't matter for cookies)
First the web-browser will make an OPTIONS request to confirm that all the headers are allowed. I've made sure that the server response includes access-control-allow-credentials to alert the browser that it's okay to store cookies.
Once it's received the OPTIONS request, the browser makes the actual POST request to the login API. It sends back the set-cookie header and everything looks good at this point.
The Problems
This set-up yields 2 problems. Firstly, though the nuser cookie is not httpOnly, I don't seem to be able to access it via JavaScript. I'm able to see nuser in my browser's cookie option menu, but document.cookie yeilds "".
Secondly, the browser seems to only place the Cookie request header in requests to the exact same API (the login API):
But, if I do a request to a different API that's still on my localhost server, the cookie header isn't present:
Oh, and this returns a 406 just because my server is currently configured to do that if the user isn't validated. I know that this should probably be 403, but the thing to focus on in this image is the fact that the "cookie" header isn't included among the request headers.
So, I've explained my implementation based on my current understanding of cookies, but I'm obviously missing something. Posting exactly what the request and response headers should look like for each task would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Okay, still not exactly what was causing the problem with this specific case, but I updated my localhost:80 server to accept api requests, then do a subsequent request to localhost:8080 to get the proper information. Because the set-cookie header is being set by localhost:80 (the client's origin), everything worked fine. From my reading before, I thought that ports didn't matter, but apparently they do.
