With R# is there a way to view/nav the set of methods in the current class?
I know you can use VS' native top-right drop-down but I'd like a shortcut.
This seems like an obvious feature for R# as it's something I miss most in VS compared to other programmer's editors.
Thanks,
Matt
(ps. sorry if this post appears twice but first attempt didn't seem to post successfully)
Two ways I use to navigate methods using R# are:
ReSharper->Go To->File member... (Alt + \, for me)
ReSharper->Windows->File Structure Window
The former invokes a popup with autocomplete where you can type the name of the method, or you can scroll through the list. The latter option is a window that provides an overview of the members in your class in the order they come in the file.
I posted similar thread few months ago:
Resharper: how to see only particular group of members
Vote for particular members browsing feature if you'd like:
http://www.jetbrains.net/devnet/docs/DOC-279
Resharper 2017.2 introduces navigation filters this allows you to filter methods "globally".
Resharper -> Navigate -> Search everywhere/Go to Type (Ctrl + T)
Type in /mm in the search box (this is the method filter mask).

Is it possible to get Eclipse Mars 4.5.0 IDE for C/C++ to show the filenames of the functions in the call hierarchy. For example in the below view I would like to see the name of the file that the "IncrementCount" and "DecrementCount" is in.
Reason is most functions are called from numerous files and I would like to see them listed here instead of clicking each function to open the files.
There is currently no option to get the Call Hierarchy view to display filenames for results.
As a workaround, you could consider using "Find References" instead (right-click -> References -> Workspace or Ctrl+Shift+G). This is like one level of the Call Hierarchy (i.e. it shows you the callers, but not the callers of the callers), and the callers are grouped by file.
That said, I don't see a reason the Call Hierarchy view shouldn't show filenames. Consider filing an issue asking for this to be added.
If you bring up the context menu from the white down arrow at the top left of the Call Hierarchy tab, there is an option to display filenames. This was seen in Eclipse 4.5.1 IDE for C/C++, but I would think it's likely in 4.5.0 as well.
How can I sort Items in CListCtrl when the button is clicked?
I made a Dialog based application in MFC.
I put CListCtrl control on my Dialog and set its view style to report type.
I have two columns in this list view.
In here when I clicked the "Sorting" button, it should sort item in the list.
I saw many examples related to this, but none is working for me.
Can some one guide me how to do that?
I assume that you mean the column header when you write "sorting button".
You probably forgot to put this into the message map of your dialog:
ON_NOTIFY(LVN_COLUMNCLICK, IDC_LIST1, OnColumnclickList1)
IDC_LIST1 is the id of the list control which may be different in your code.
Are you somewhat familiar with MFC ? If not, you should follow one of the numerous tutorials available on the net.
I would use a CMFCListCtrl. It is easier, as it as built in sorting functionality and you only have to provide a function with the comparing items algorithm for sorting. I have succeeded using it. You have to override the OnCompareItems on your class derived from CMFCListCtrl. I also recommend you to do a call to EnableMarkSortedColumn(); after your list is created.
The CListCtrl has a SortItems method.
All you need to do is provide your Compare function to it as the parameter.
I don't know much about the contents of your list control so I can't really give you more information.
Please read up on it and extend your question with example code and details of which column needs to be sorted and I can help more.
If the contents of your cells are just text then I usually just return the value of:
return Value1.CollateNoCase(Value2);
There are also lots of tutorials on the Internet. For example:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/27774/CListCtrl-and-sorting-rows
In fact, that tutorial suggests us in SortItemsEx. That is what I would use.
I am creating a Sitecore MVC site for a client and I need to create page that will list news articles for the company.
So far, I have created items that use a shared data template called “Article,” and I also have a sublayout (a view rendering) called “Article” that will display these items.
For the list itself, my plan was to create another component (a sublayout) call “News_List”, and to put a placeholder in it called “List”.
My question is this: can I allow the author to insert articles (e.g., N items of type “Article”) into this placeholder via the page editor?
Will SC allow you to insert multiple instances of the same component into a placeholder? Will this break anything?
I believe this is a pretty common question but I have not found a definitive answer. Thanks in advance…!
You can insert as many components (of the same type) in your placeholder as you want.. Just make sure to put the placeholder settings correctly and give it a decent name (not just "list" ;))
But are you sure you want to do this? Your editors will manually need to create a list of components for each article they want to add on the page. Doesn't sound to be very user (editor) friendly.. Maybe you should consider creating a list component that can get a list of articles as a datasource and show those. Or even select them automatically (but that might be not according to your business case)..
Yes, authors can add multiple instances of the same component into a single placeholder.
Assuming that the code of the component doesn't do any stupid things it's absolutely ok to do this.
So I am rather new to sitecore, and it's a topic that wasn't covered during my training. My questions is just to help point me to the correct term, or documentation on a method to do the following.
I have a definition item, with a ton of field groups, what I want to do is something like:
if Value of Field X is "yes" then collapse/hide Field X or Field Group X.
Does that make sense? Is it a validation rule? or some other kind of rules, is it a workflow I need to attach? Do you place it on just the field I want to hide, or the field that triggers the action?
I appreciate any guidance.
There is nothing out-of-the-box in Sitecore to achieve what you want but there is no reason you cannot create a composite custom field type to do this. The following articles will help you achieve this:
Creating a custom Sitecore Field
Getting to Know Sitecore: Custom Fields, Part 1
Create a new control, inheriting either from Droplist (if the comparison of the value is to be text based) or Droplink (for comparison of ID). You could add a parameter in the Source field of the control to specify what the values that trigger the hide should be.
The underlying control in the Content Editor is just a standard HTML select element. Add onchange events to the control and add your Javascript handler to hide the other controls. Since I could not find a way of adding additional custom css classes to the Sitecore controls, it would be best/easiest to hide all other controls in the same collapsible group after you control. This would mean you would need to group your controls better (or logically at least).
The Javascript will be something like this (the Content Editor uses the Prototype JS framework):
if ($(this).getValue() == 'no') {
// find the parent container of this control and then hide all the next siblings in the same group
$(this).up('.scEditorFieldMarker').nextSiblings('.scEditorFieldMarker').invoke('hide');
}
You can test this by running the above in the console, change out the keyword this with the id of your field, e.g. $('FIELD2292054').
What I am not sure about is how to trigger the hide on initial load, i.e. when someone returns to an existing item, it may be possible by adding to one of the pipelines, but would be better using a JS solution if possible. I'll have a think about this and get a proper code sample up over the next few days.
EDIT: You can add an event handler to sc:contenteditorupdated to handle the content editor being rel-oaded.
document.observe("sc:contenteditorupdated", myFunction);
I wrote up a blog post and put the code on GitHub if you are interested.
Not sure if you have come across Andy Uzick's this blog post.
He wisely talks about hiding fields in the Content Editor and has also created a Sitecore Module called Hide Field Template Extension which is hosted on the Sitecore Marketplace with the full source code to extend.
After reading through and trying the extension, I do feel that it will not completely resolve your issue (how you have described it in the question).
But it will give you:
A mid-term solution to hide a few unnecessary field that some content editors would not like to view.
Fields that are only required by administrators for admin purpose - to de-clutter these fields could be hidden.
Just one thing to bear in mind that it mentions in the requirements Sitecore 6.5 & 6.6. I have not tested it in Sitecore 7. If you are using Sitecore 7, which I think you are, one could modify the source code and make it work for Sitecore 7.
Have a look and share your findings.
Happy Sitecoring!
I have been away from C++ for a couple of years now doing AS3/Flex work. I have gotten used to being able to create a component and place it in design mode with very little fuss and I am struggling to get my head around the C++ Builder way of doing the same thing.
I have written many components for C++ Builder in the past, but none of them have been visual. What I would like to do now is create a component for customer search and another for order processing because I want to be able to create a new instance of these on the fly. What I don't want to do is have to place each of the components like the dbgrid and search fields manually in code. I would like to do this (as well as set their properties) in design mode.
How do I go about this? I have browsed the source for other Delphi components and I notice they have dfm files which seems to be what I need. How do I do this in C++ Builder? The only option I see is to add a new form if I want a dfm, but this isn't what I want as my components will be based on TPanel.
Is there a way to do this or do I have to resort to doing it all in code with no visual reference?
Pursuing the DFM idea I did a test this morning where I created a component based on TPanel and added a new form to it which I create and parent in the constructor of the component. In design mode I set the form border to none and placed a grid on it. This all looks OK until I place the component in my application, at that point it looks like a panel with a standard looking form in it and the grid is missing. If I run the app the panel shows as expected, borderless and with a grid. The DFM appears to be ignored in design mode for some reason.
If you know a better way to do this than using components then please give me some pointers.
Any help and advice will be appreciated beyond words
You might want to have a look at frames (look for "Frame objects"). They are "subforms" you can design visually and then place on forms.
Just as an FYI item, you can also drop the panel on a form, put any other controls on it, position them, set captions, etc..
Now, click the panel to select it, and use Component->Create Component Template from the IDE's main menu. This creates a unit you can install as a component which will add the panel and it's sub-controls (as a single component) to the IDE's component palette.
Of course, you can then modify the source for that new component like any other component source.
