How to concatenate string in hyperlink function - openoffice-calc

I would like to add a column in my OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet.
In particular, this column should contain a hyperlink to a query on Google.
For example: if in A1 I have the string "The gladiator", I would like have column B1:
"www.google.it?q=The Gladiator"
So I can click and open the browser to see how that "film" is (yes, it is a simple film database).
Thank you!

You have two options:
The & operator:
=hyperlink("http://www.google.com/search?q="&A1)
or the concatenate() function:
=hyperlink(CONCATENATE("http://www.google.com/search?q="; A1))
The HYPERLINK() function handles URL encoding for you.

Excellent Answer: Use & or Concatenate function.
Let me add, the proper connector is semi-colon, not comma...
Also, I would recommend using the film title as the celltext, to avoid having the literal hyperlink display in the column b cell.
=hyperlink("http...?q="&a1;a1)
=hyperlink(CONCATENTATE("http...?q=";a1);a1)
I am using this exact function (different target URL) and am trying to get the new page to launch in the same window as the previous, to avoid having to click the X in the corner (talk about lazy).

How to set two filtering values in one column of links in an interactive report? (Oracle Apex 21.1)

I need help creating a link in Oracle APEX.
I have two Interactive Report pages created in Oracle APEX.
The first page is an Interactive Report for a list of cats. When clicking on that link, filter the second page's Interactive Report by the "fur color" column. Furthermore, I want to always be "white" in addition to the color of the selected row.
I try 2 types of methods to create a link in Link Builder.
Name = IR_FUR_COLOR, Value = &P18_FUR_COLOR. and more one line Value = White
Name = IR_FUR_COLOR, Value = &P18_FUR_COLOR.,White
But they did not work.
How should I do it? Does anyone help me?
Thank you for watching this question!
Link Builder should contain only
Name: IR_FUR_COLOR, Value: &P18_FUR_COLOR
Modify the second Interactive Report's query so that its where clause looks like this:
where fur_color in ('white', :IR_FUR_COLOR)
which means that it'll always filter white color, along with any color you pass from the previous page.
There are variations to that approach; for example, you could create another (hidden) item on the 2nd page and pass white to it and then
where fur_color in (:HIDDEN_FUR_COLOR, :IR_FUR_COLOR)

Sheets, conditional formatting

I am looking to create a conditional formatting function that will highlight "C2:E2" if "E2" > 5000 & "B2" does not contain the word "treasury".
any help would be appreciated!
try on range C2:E:
=($E2>5000)*(NOT(REGEXMATCH(LOWER($B2), "treasury")))
Navigate in top menu to Format -> Conditional formatting
There you can specify range as E2:E29
Use conditional formatting with just one AND formula that refers dynamically to the values of the same row, but different column
AND comparision of the current value
=AND(indirect(address(row();column()-3))<>"Treasury";indirect(address(row();column()))>5000)
This can maybe be simplified, but definitely works with more conditions at once.
Some explanation:
To avoid typing new formulas for each row, we use INDIRECT joined with ADDRESS
column()-3 refers to current column (the one you call formula in) . Have in mind that means for each columns (C->E) you need a different formula that refers to another column for checking if it contains "treasury". In your case you'll need different formulas for column C,D and E. column()-3 works for E, because Treasury is in B column (3 columns earlier from E)
P.S: translating from my native language, so not sure if English UI is the same, but should be intuitive from here.
You'll want a custom Conditional Formatting Rule.
Click in cell C2, then from the menu choose:
Format > Conditional formatting
In the dialog box, set your range:
C2:E29 (or change 29 to whichever row is the last one you want to include in the formatting rule)
Under Format rules > Format cells if..., choose the bottom option from the dropdown menu: "Custom formula is."
In the field below, enter this formula:
=AND(NOT(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("treasury",$B2))),$E2>=5000)
Set your formatting style and click Done.

How to put formula in Data Validation List Excel?

I am creating an excel sheet with following Data Validation drop down list.
NA
Done
(add some formula here)
Basically, i will be able to select either plain text "NA"/ "Done" from the dropdown list. But sometimes, I want the user to be able to calculate some values based on the cell respective to the row selected so, I want to have one formula as a choice inside the data validation dropdown list. Is this possible?
Data Validation List Source
When I click on Formulae option, it should execute the formula with respect to the cells in that Row
But currently, the formula that i put in doesn't execute, instead it will just show the whole formula in the cell when activated.
1)How can i make it so that when i select the formula from data validation list, it will execute it instead of filling up the cell with it?
2)How do i set the formula so that it will be using the cell from the current Row? (for example, if i am using the data validation List in N60, the formula should adapt itself to use the cell (let's say A60?).
I may not be able to help with the second part, but I was seeking an answer to the first and discovered a solution/workaround using Name Manager.
First, in Formula > Name Manager, create a new reference (the "refers to" will contain whatever formula you are wishing to ultimately display in the validation list. For this example, we use the formula reference "=IF($H54=..." and Name it "UniqueName"
Now, we go into Data Validation, Select List, and input the three items we want displayed in the list, with an equals sign preceding our newly named reference: ie. "NA,Done,=UniqueName"
Note: You can't start with the =UniqueName or validation will try to read it all as a formula and fail.
This method will allow the user to display "NA", "Done", or "=UniqueName" in the cell; if "=UniqueName" is selected, the cell itself will interpret this as a formula and execute it accordingly, displaying the results of "=IF($H54=...", or whateverelse you have designated to use as a named formula.
If it's too late for yours, I hope this helps someone else who may face a similar problem.
While I think I know what you're trying to say. Why don't you just use an IF formula to evaluate everything instead of selecting a drop down for every row manually. You already had it partially solved using IF. Just need to add the criteria for a "Done" and an "NA"
=if(A1="date","Done",if(A1<"date","NA",if(something else until you have all your catergories))
Just going to piggyback off of Mark's response.
If you really needed your named formula to be the first selection in the list, you can setup your list with a leading comma like so:
,=UniqueName,NA,Done
That worked out for my use, and there was no null item listed in the Data Validation drop down. Hope that helps!

In Oracle Apex 5 I want to link to an Interactive Report and set a filter RequestID = #RequestID#

I am trying to link a column from an Interactive Report to another Interactive Report in Apex 5. I want to set the filter in the later one with a value from the first one. I used a column of type Link then clicked on Target button to set the page number like this:
It doesn't work. I read there are other ways, I could use an URL link and build the URL to pass the parameters using a package but if I used this, how can I bind it to the link?
Normally you'll need to specify the operator to be used in the link - documentation:
Developing Reports > Editing Interactive Reports in Page Designer > Linking to Interactive Reports
Snippet concerning setting up a link:
To create a filter, use the following itemNames and itemValues syntax:
IR[region static ID]<operator>_<target column alias>
Consider the following example:
IR[EMP]C_ENAME:KING
Meaning that if you want to place a filter on your report where the column REQUEST_ID matches a given value, you'd need the equals operator syntax:
IREQ_REQUESTID:#REQUEST_ID#
However, using
IR_REQUESTID:#REQUEST_ID#
should also work, as the EQ operator is the default operator.
Also consider other issues: do you have more than one IR on the page? You'll need to reference the correct one. Is your generated link correct? Inspect it!
I found what was causing the filter not to work. I was trying to filter a column of type "link". It doesn't work when it's a "link", but it does when it's "plain text". So now you know. Here's how it's looking...
For me it works like this:
I created an Item (display only)(source type: null) on the second page with the second IR.
In the first IR in the Column Attributes set a Link Text and the Target and Page number (like you did already). In the Name part put your Item that you just created and for the Value put the column name in which are the values for your filter (like #Request_ID'#).
Then again on the second page with the second IR you will put something like this in the Region Source:
select REQUEST_ID,
REQUEST_NUMBER,
NAME,
FIRST_NAME,
COMPANY,
COUNTRY,
TYPE,
RQ_IS_ARCHIVE,
RQ_ID_TO
from REQUEST
where REQUEST_ID = :P20_REQUEST_ID
The :P20_REQUEST_ID is the Item that you created on that second page.
You passed the value from the Request_ID column from the first page in to the Item on the second page, there you used it then as a condition.
Hope this helps you...

SP 2013 - Quick edit with Managed Meta Data columns, copy and paste from excel

I'm trying to migrate a meta data from an excel spreadsheet to a SP 2013 document library. The columns are managed meta data columns with pre defined terms matching the data in the excel spreadsheet.
However I cannot copy and paste data from excel via Quick Edit in the doucment library without getting the following error "The data returned from the tagging UI was not formatted correctly"
This happens even when I remove all formatting or paste to notepad first.
Are there any simple solutions to this issue?

Thanks,
Any metadata fields are in fact foreign keys, as it were, to a dynamic, hidden table (or 'list', whatever you want to call it) within SharePoint. To paste a value into a metadata column, you need to know your element's guid (as in, within the term set) and then append that to each metadata element you're pasting in as a <name>|<guid> pair.
Getting the GUID for an element within your term set
Browse to [site-root]/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx and create a new view (or edit the default one) to display the field 'IdForTerm'.
Where you have a term 'apple', your IdForTerm may look like '1288beaf-82e0-4d81-b9de-ad5ad8382938'. Take a note of the guid for each term which appears within your input data.
Edit your input to correctly reference each term
Let's say you're importing your data from an Excel spreadsheet. Or from a CSV. It doesn't really matter. What you need to do is, basically, a find and replace down each managed metadata column, replacing 'term' with 'term|guid'. So our example from earlier, with the apple, would become 'apple|1288beaf-82e0-4d81-b9de-ad5ad8382938'.
Finally, assuming your view is set up in exactly the same order as your input data, you should be able to 'edit list' from within the browser, hit the leftmost side of your first input row (to select the entire row) and CTRL+V all of your data at the same time.
Note there appears to be a limit to the number of entries you can make at the same time. It appears to sit at around 5,000 elements.
Adding on to #rmacd's answer, you can also get the GUID for a given MMS term by first manually entering the value(s) you need in a Quick Edit cell, then copy and paste the same value(s) from SharePoint to Excel. The pasted value will appear with the full term|guid that you need to complete the bulk copy/paste.
