Any way to hack FogBugz On demand to SSO? - django

I will launch soo a new iPhone app and want to off-load the forums to my actual FogBugz On Demand account.
However, I discover that FOD have no facility to integrate Single sing-on. I use django and have the option to use open-id, but not know if exist a way to make this happend.
Obviously, I could hack a simple forums like the one on FogBugz in django or reuse one, but I just think that aintegrated forum with the bug tracking is the best thing.
Any idea?

FogBugz On Demand now natively includes some authentication methods other than the standard username/password authentication.
Setting up authentication with Google's OAuth is quite simple for companies using Google Apps for work email. Once an administrator enables OAuth following the instructions in this article on Fog Creek Software's help site, logging in is as simple as clicking the OAuth button on the login page. All of the users' settings are retained.
If you’re already managing the rest of your authentication through a SAML 2.0 provider, you can also use your identity provider for FogBugz login. Steps for configuring SSO can be found in this article. This requires a bit more configuration than OAuth, but will work for companies that don't use Google Apps for email.

SSO Implementation ColdFusion

This is a very basic question. I want to do an SSO integration using ColdFusion but do not know where to start. I found the website ssoeasy.com through a google search, but am very confused about how to use it and where to find documentation.
I think it has something related with cfldap or cfhttp but not sure what and where:

It really depends on what role you want to play in an SSO ecosystem. Are you an app in a larger federation (Service Provider), or are you trying to implement an SSO style login across multiple applications that you control, or are you looking to setup so that your users can log in with Google or Facebook or such other identity registers?
A few years back we did an implementation with Shibboleth (https://shibboleth.net/) and CF where our intended place in the system would be that of a Service Provider to other companies Identity Providers. It works pretty straight forward as we let Shibboleth handle all the SAML federation grunt work and then when it's completed we get an e-mail address (the unique identifier we decided on) back from Shibboleth saying that the user has been authenticated via the Identity Provider.
Other 'SSO' implementations are around for other types of integrations.

If I understand your SSO use case, the application will be a cloud service provider (SP). There are three things you need to determine to help in the selection of the appropriate technology, mainly (1) SSO protocol to integrate, mainly SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect (OIDC), etc. (2) Hosting, mainly Cloud, On-Prem, or hybrid, and (3) whether or not IdP discovery is needed for your business partners.
Being ColdFusion based as well as working to be a cloud SP web application, my experience is that the application is to be hosted by your organization, such that an on premise SSO capability is desired, as well as IdP Discovery will be needed for your partners.
As noted in your question there are some options for integration. I have found the most popular approach to being a SP website is to utilize a vendor product that handles the SSO protocol (e.g. SAML, OIDC) where the integration with your ColdFusion application is based upon a simple REST API integration. With this design pattern, the vendor product manages all the security of the SSO protocol and then simplifies integration to your application as a secure REST API exchange of identity information. This will minimize the impact to your application and also give the most support for modern identity. One product that offers this capability is PingFederate via the Agentless integration (also referred to as Reference ID integration). I have had much success integrating ColdFusion applications following this type of approach.
SAML seemed to be the easiest to implement for our team. Phil Duba's 2013 Beyond Encrypt() presentation is a good starting place. His website is down right now, but I'm sure you can find the downloadable file somewhere. Learning about SAML in general would be a good idea. Also, you can use Java, so maybe look at SAML/OAUTH Java examples and try doing that for Coldfusion since it is based on Java.

Authentication using Glass

We have an existing Android and iOS application that consumes REST API from our servers. The API provides a token to the authenticated users after they log in using their credentials (username, password combo.) from the mobile applications.
Now, we're planning to create a Google Glass application for the same. In this case, we'd like to use the existing REST API along with Glass also. The Glass app will be built natively using the GDK.
My concern is, how would the users be able to input credentials? Because, users may have signed up for the service using non-google accounts?

At the moment, there is no supported way for apps made with GDK Early Access to authenticate the user or provide a way to connect the Glass account to your auth system. The Glass team has indicated such methods are coming, however - the Strava Cycling app, for example, does this, and it is expected that a similar feature will become widely available as the GDK matures.
Strava Cycling appears to get its credentials at the time you setup the app through MyGlass. When you turn it on it redirects you to a website to log into Strava's service before completing the install.
I just gave a talk on this exact topic at Wearables DevCon. The solution I proposed is purely done through GDK. All the user has to do is sign into their Google Account on a phone/tablet/computer and enter a code that is shown on Glass.

Django library for Stack Exchange API authentication?

I'm writing a webapp that heavily uses the StackExchange API. I'm currently using OpenID authentication but given the only people that will use the site will be SE members, I've been wondering if there's a library for Django (or Python, in general) that can handle the login process for me.
I'm specifically thinking of something that slots into the process like the django_openid_auth project does.

You can use django-allauth for signup/login process as it supports Stack Exchange OAuth2.
Since your app heavily uses StackExchange API, you should consider using Py-StackExchange along with django-allauth. Please have a look at FAQ and it's API support for StackExchange.

For managing login/registration there are some good working projects. You can read a good review of 4 of the most common libraries at hackerluddite. Django-social-auth and django-allauth are likely the most complete, stable and used.

Django + Google SSO openid

I would like to have my application http://app.acquee.com/designer to accept a google account as a login. I found a bunch of libs for django but most work on top of existing Django authentication system that I do not use. I have my own set of user tables where I keep user info and privileges.
Any suggestion on how to integrate that with the Google Openid?
Seems I will have to do it manually using python-openid. Or could I use django-openid?
However, with the latter, I don't even know how to issue the discover command.
Regardless, I get stuck on google's step 5, sending a login authentication request (optionally with OAuth parameters) to the provided endpoint address. Can someone provide a sample request? is it a GET/POST? content?

You can try https://launchpad.net/django-openid-auth - I'm using it in a commercial project, for both regular Google Accounts and Google Apps accounts. I remember that it was the most convincing one at the time I was doing a review, although I can't give you any details now due to my short memory. Anyway - it's working great.

Web Service Authentication using OpenID

I'm going to be developing a REST-ful Web Service for a new public website. The idea behind the web service is to have 3rd parties develop fully functional UIs for the business logic.
For security reasons, I'd like to avoid users having to give their passwords for our service to the 3rd party applications. (Perhaps this shouldn't be a big concern?) Instead, I'm looking to implement some sort of login system on our site that provides an auth token to the 3rd party app but keeps the actual password out of their hands.
This made me think that OpenID might be a potential solution here. It seems to me that it should work: the actual password is handled by the OpenID provider and so it doesn't rest with the 3rd party app. I think that the trouble would probably lie with the various passthroughs, but that should be manageable.
However, there's a surprising lack of Googleable info on this, so I'd like SO's opinion. Has anyone implemented a similar system before? Is it even possible? Is it worth the trouble?
I agree completely that what you want is OAuth; I say that having worked on both OAuth and OpenID systems. I've also been in your boat a few times, having to develop a REST web service api.

If you are relatively inexperienced with REST (you haven't built a full scale web api yet) I would recommend that you buy (or better get your boss to) "RESTful Web Services" by Richardson & Ruby. It is an O'Reilly book. I can say that it is one of their better books to debut in the past few years.

This conversation mentions something called "OpenID Exchange" which is right up my alley... but the included link is broken and there's not much solid information on Google for it.
