I just woke up and shockingly VsCode can't resolve imports in all my Django projects.
Some were using venv and some pipenv, but they have all stopped resolving imports.
I have tried the answers which all seem to say I should select the python.exe from the Script folder of the respective projects virtual environment`. But as you can see below, that ain't working.
Any pointers?
Did you try the clear cache and reload option in the command palette?

I've seen similar questions but they don't solve my problem.
I have a correctly installed django project. I haven't being able to make Pycharm recognize it. I can't get file name completions (i.e static files), imports from the project apps aren't recognized and neither are urls tags, can't run the server ... How can I solve this?
The problem was that I wasn't selecting the correct folder when opening the project. I opened the whole virtualenv folder with Pycharm cause I wanted quick access to the activate file in /bin where I keep my environment variables.
The solution was to delete the .idea folder and open the specific django project folder. I thought there was a workaround to this but there wasn't. The question still remains if there is a way to add the activate file in the /bin directory of the virtualenv to the project, even if it is outside the project root.
I have installed Python 27 successfully.
And with respect to project requirement i have also installed following packages.
Django==1.4.3
MySQL-python==1.2.4
PIL==1.1.7
South==0.7.6
argparse==1.2.1
distribute==0.6.28
django-appconf==0.6
django-imagekit==2.0.2
pytz==2012j
six==1.2.0
wsgiref==0.1.2
Now the problem is, i dont know how to make this run, or visible in python.
Can anybody please help me, to get out from this.
I have to change few webservices and also want to add some functionality.
This webservices are attached with wordpress website.
So, please help me to configure whole this project on local (Windows PC).
Thanks in advance
Go for the Touch Command of Django for this issue,
I think it will make helpful to you.
Thanks!
i have solve this, find below instruction for users who have same queries:
Restarting the Spawned Server
If you change any Python code on your site, you’ll need to tell FastCGI the code has changed. But there’s no need to restart Apache in this case. Rather, just reupload mysite.fcgi – or edit the file – so that the timestamp on the file changes. When Apache sees the file has been updated, it will restart your Django application for you.
If you have access to a command shell on a Unix system, you can accomplish this easily by using the touch command:
touch mysite.fcgi

I'm working on a Django-nonrel project using Django-rest-framework and I've run into the following error after following the instructions in the Token Authorization section of their Authorization API Guide:
ImportError: No module named rest_framework.authtoken
Normally I would just assume that this is something to do with my PYTHONPATH but I don't think that's exactly what the problem is because I can import this framework from both IDLE and the project's shell run using manage.py, the latter both with and without a virtual environment. Within the virtual environment I have installed django and djangorestframework, which should be the only requiremnets for the project thus far.
I had thought that it might have been a Python versioning problem but given that I can import the package directly from the project's shell (running under the virtual env) I'm kind of at a loss since theoretically running manage.py from the same virtual environment should result in the same context for locating libraries.
I've spent a long time searching around trying to fix this issue but to no avail. Any suggestions? I'm happy to provide any additional information as needed!
A few things to check:
Are you sure you are using the directory one level above rest_framework in your PYTHONPATH?
Did you restart your shell after installation?
Take a look at VirtualEnv PYTHONPATH setup. Did you try setting the PYTHONPATH for virtualenv explicitly?
In eclipse,when i create new project, i got an error like,
Error creating Django project
settings.py file not created
Stdout:
Stderr:
If i synchronize present project and runserver, iam getting Error: No module named filterspecs.But i haven't used filterspecs in my project. Already filterspecs.py installed in usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/contrib/admin.
Kindly advise to rectify the error.
You may be using django.contrib.admin.filterspecs to create custom filters for your admin pages, such as outlined here:
Custom Filter in Django Admin on Django 1.3 or below
Unfortunatelly, you will have to rewrite these using the new list_filter module functionality.
See the manual here:
https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/admin/#django.contrib.admin.ModelAdmin.list_filter
This happened to me as well, even though my code wasn't directly using any filterspecs.
Run python manage.py runserver --traceback to see exactly where the error is coming from.
This module was removed in Django 1.4, but other external modules you have listed in your settings.py might still be using it, so make sure you upgrade everything in your INSTALLED_APPS list. In my case, I was using an outdated version of FeinCMS, but after I upgraded it, the error went away.
Obviously, your system is lacking filterspecs module which is required by the project. Install it by typing sudo pip install filterspecs in the console (if you are on linux)
I've installed django on my windows machine, added the pydev and django plugins for eclipse, create a django project, and ran manage.py createapp to create one app. Now when I run manage.py runserver (via eclipse's "custom command" option") It says Validating models... but when I go to http://localhost:8000 I get no response, as though the server is not running. What am I doing wrong?
Try running with --noreload to avoid getting two processes. It helps with error output redirection in eclipse, and may give you more hints towards the actual problem.
Also, do the same from the command-line to see if you get the same problem.
Update: Per Fabio's comment above, you can work around this problem by hacking the code, as explained in this question.
