I'm new in this world. As you can see in the picture, I key in function at B1 and I want B1 to return 1 if A1 data is time. But it kept of giving me 0. At the same time, I want if there are no value or N/A, it must return 0. What should I key in? I do understand that if using =ifna("A","1","0"), but that still does not return me anything for if there are any data.
Format your column A to "Time"
Paste formula to B2: =IF(ISDATE(A1);1;0)
Note: I'm using Norwegian formatting/settings. For english formatting/settings, change ";" with "," in formula.
Why your formula won't work:
Since you use "" with your hh:mm:ss like this: "hh:mm:ss" - you're asking your formula to look for exactly that. Your formula will only return TRUE if A1 = hh:mm:ss (in text)
In IF-statements, do not use "" for returning numbers og TRUE/FALSE.
Your formula: if(A1="hh:mm:ss","1","0)
What needs to be changed in TRUE/FALSE part: if(A1="hh:mm:ss",1,0)
-- Tho, you need to ask if A1 is a date: =IF(ISDATE(A1),1,0)
To count for N/A - put IFERROR in formula: =IFERROR(IF(ISDATE(A1),1,0)0)

I want this formula to calculate a date based on input from two other dates. I first wrote it for a single cell and it gives the expected results but when I try to use ARRAYFORMULA it returns the wrong results.
I first use two if statements specifycing what should happen if either one of the inputs is missing. Then the final if statement calculates the date if both are present based on two conditions. This seems to work perfectly if I write the formula for one cell and drag it down.
=IF( (LEN(G19)=0);(U19+456);(IF((LEN(U19)=0) ;(G19);(IF((AND((G19<(U19+456));(G19>(U19+273)) ));(G19);(U19+456))))))
However, when I want to use arrayformula to apply it to the entire column, it always returns the value_if_false if neither cell is empty, regardless of whether the conditions in the if statement are actually met or not. I am specifically talking about the last part of the formula that calculates the date if both input values are present, it always returns the result of U19:U+456 even when the result should be G19:G. Here is how I tried to write the ARRAYFORMULA:
={"Date deadline";ARRAYFORMULA(IF((LEN(G19:G400)=0);(U19:U400+456);(IF((LEN(U19:U400)=0);
(G19:G400);(IF((AND((G19:G400<(U19:U400+456));(G19:G400>(U19:U400+273)) ));(G19:G400);(U19:U400+456)))))))}
I am a complete beginner who only learned to write formulas two weeks ago, so any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
AND and OR are not compatible with ARRAYFORMULA
Replace them by * or +
Try
={"Date deadline";ARRAYFORMULA(
IF((LEN(G19:G400)=0),(U19:U400+456),
(IF((LEN(U19:U400)=0), (G19:G400),
(IF((((G19:G400<(U19:U400+456))*(G19:G400>(U19:U400+273)) )),(G19:G400),
(U19:U400+456)))
))
)
)}
Keep in mind you cannot use AND, OR operators in an arrayformula, so you must find an alternative method such as multiplying the values together and checking them for 0 or 1 (true*true=1)
I am gathering based on your formula's and work that you want to have the following:
If G19 is blank show U19 + 456
If U19 is blank show G19
If G19 is less than U19 + 456 but greater than U19 + 273 show G19
Otherwise show U19 + 456
I'm not too sure what you want to happen when both columns G and U are empty. Based on your current formula you are returning an empty cell + 456... but with this formula it returns an empty cell rather than Column U + 456
Formula
={"Date deadline";ARRAYFORMULA(TO_DATE(ARRAYFORMULA(IFS((($G19:$G400="")*($U19:$U400=""))>0,"",$G19:$G400="",$U19:$U400+456,$U19:$U400="",$G19:$G400,(($G19:$G400<$U19:$U400+456)*($G19:$G400>$U19:$U400+273))>0,$G19:$G400,TRUE,$U19:$U400+456))))}
I have a Actuals column like so:
ID | Airport
------------
A | 98.4
B | 98.0
C | 95.3
I'm attempting to format the numbers above into percentages for a front-end report. I have this written in a switch statement - for ease I'll just write the logic as an IF boolean.
example_measure =
VAR Nums = SELECTEDVALUES(Table[Actuals])
VAR FormatNums = IF(DIVIDE(ROUND(nums,1), nums) = 1,
format(nums,"0%"),format(nums,"0.0%")
-
RETURN
FormatNums
no matter what I do this always returns a number with a floating point value of 1f
so in my raw data of 98.0 I'm expecting the format to return "98%" rather than "98.0%"
the measures are used on individual cards, and are filtered so they can only ever show one value or blank, meaning they will only ever display one value on their own.
I've toyed with using if(nums = int(nums) which should evaluate to true for 98.0 but it I always get false.
There is a simpler way - just use built-in formatting codes:
Formatted Actuals =
VAR x = SELECTEDVALUE(Data[Actuals])
RETURN
FORMAT(x, "General Number") & "%"
Result:
Built-in style "General Number" handles your situation correctly, you just need to add % symbol to the formatted string. No need to test for whole numbers.
To convert a column/measure into percentage, you can simply divide the column by 100 and then format it as a percentage. Use the following steps:
Create a new column/measure: Perc_value = Table[Actuals]/100
Then go into the modelling tab, select the created column/measure and format it as a % and limit the number of decimal places to 0
This should give the view you are looking for. Hope this helps.
Edit:
You can use the below formula to achieve the desired result:
Column4 = IF('Table'[Column2]-ROUND('Table'[Column2],0)=0,FORMAT('Table'[Column2]/100,"0%"),FORMAT('Table'[Column2]/100,"0.0%"))
Replace Column2 withyour field and you should be good to go.
I'm trying to create "Sale Rep" summaries by "Shop", where I can simply filter a column by the rep's name, them populate a total sales for each shop next to the relevant filter result.
I'm using this to filter all the Stores by Scott:
=(filter(D25:D47,A25:A47 = "Scott"))
Next, want to associate the Store/Account in F to populate with the corresponding value of E inside of G. So, G25 should populate the value of E25 ($724), G26 with E26 ($822), and F27 with E38 ($511.50)
I don't know how to write the formula correctly, but something like this is what I'm trying to do: =IF(F25=D25:D38),E25 I know that's not right, and it won't work in a fill down. But I'm basically trying to look for and copy over the correct value match of D and E inside of G. So, Misty Mountain Medicince in F27 will be matched to the value of E38 and populated in G27.
The filter is what's throwing me off, because it's not a simple fill down. And I don't know how to match filtered results from one column to a matched value in another.
Hope the screenshot helps. Screenshot of table:
Change Field Rep: Scott to Scott and you might apply:
=query(A25:E38,"select D,E where A='"&F24&"'")
// Enter the following into G25 and copy down column G
=(filter(E25:E47, D25:D47 = F25))
or
// Enter the following into G25 will expand with content in F upto row 47
=ArrayFormula(IF(F25:F47 <> 0, VLOOKUP(F25:F47, D25:E47, 2, FALSE),))
I'm am exploring methods of giving scores to different datapoints within a dataset. These points come from a mix of numbers and text string attributes looking for certain characteristics, e.g. if Col. A contains more than X number of "|", then give it a 1. If not, it gets a 0 for that category. I also have some that give the point when the value is >X.
I have been trying to do this with =IF, for example, =IF([sheet] = [Text], "1","0").
I can get it to give me 1 or 0, but I am unable to get a point total with sum.
I have tried changing the formatting of the text to both "number", "plain text", and have left it as automatic, but I can't get it to sum. Thoughts? Is there maybe a better way to do this?
FWIW - I'm trying to score based on about 12 factors.
Best,
Alex
The issue here might be that you're having the cell evaluate to either the string "0" or the string "1" rather than the number 0 or the number 1. That would explain why you're seeing the right things but the math isn't coming out right - the cell contents look like numbers, but they're really text, which the summation would then ignore.
One option would be to drop the quotation marks and write something like this:
=IF(condition, 1, 0)
This has the condition evaluate to 1 if it's true and 0 if it's false.
Alternatively, you could write something like this:
=(condition) * 1
This will take the boolean TRUE or FALSE returned by condition and convert it to either the numeric value 1 (true) or the numeric value 0 (false).
I am using Excel 2010 and currently trying to get a formula for my data using a Nested If And, but unable of the correct formula.
Here is some sample data to elaborate on my point:
(A1) Received Date (B1) DueDate
(A2) 7/1/2016 (B2) 7/8/2016
(A3) 7/1/2016 (B3) 6/29/2016
(A4) 7/1/2016 (B4) NULL
Basically, I want to create a formula that satisfies the following conditions. If Received Date < DueDate AND DueDate IS NOT NULL...then "YES", else "NO". So in this sample code above, only the first record should return "YES" and the other two should return "NO."
How do I do about a formula doing this?
I don't know how to do the second condition, the IS NOT NULL part. I put the cell numbers in parenthesis to simulate the table. (Hope that helps.)
Excel does not have a function to test for null. You can use IsBlank() to check for a blank cell or you can use IsNumber() to check for a numeric value. So, in your case something like
=if(and(isnumber(B2),A2<B2),"something","else")
Edit: If you want to check for the text "Null", then
=if(and(B2<>"Null",A2<B2),"something","else")
= is the "equals" comparison operator. "Not equals" is done with the <> comparison operator. Or you could do Not(B2="Null") but that's a bit too curly.
Another edit: FWIW, the first formula should still work, regardless of the cell containing text or being blank. As soon as the cell contains a date (which is a numeric value), the condition will be TRUE. So you can use that formula as well.
=IF(AND(B2<>"NULL",A2<B2),"YES","NO")
