Need to encrypt data in transit from application severs to RDS SQL server with SSL/TLS?
I see aws gives the option to make force encryption = true in parameter group with self signed certs.
Is there a way to use customer certs to import into RDS?
Any configuration steps to do this at application server and on RDS?
Appreciate any info on this . Didn't find anything in AWS knowledge base.
Note: Application servers sit behind load balancer.
For RDS SQL Server you will need to use the PEM that AWS provides for TLS.
You have a choice of either:
Root certificate
Intermediary and root certificate
The application server will need to have access to this certificate before it can connect to the RDS instance.
Unfortunately at this time only Aurora supports uploading your own certificates (and then accessing via ACM), you will need to use the provided one.

I am not able to connect to Database through bolt in Neo4j browser when opening my domain on HTTPS. We are using Neo4j Enterprise version 4.4.4 and its deployed on AWS EC2. All the ports are opened in Security Group ( 7474, 7473, 7687, 22).
SSL has been applied through ACM and that is attached with Application Load Balancer.
Below is the error-
ServiceUnavailable: WebSocket connection failure. Due to security constraints in your web browser, the reason for the failure is not available to this Neo4j Driver. Please use your browsers development console to determine the root cause of the failure. Common reasons include the database being unavailable, using the wrong connection URL or temporary network problems. If you have enabled encryption, ensure your browser is configured to trust the certificate Neo4j is configured to use.
Use "bolt+s://" or "neo4j+s://" for the connection
The '+s' variants of URI schemes for encrypted sessions with full certificates

I had the same issue after deploying to EC2 using an AWS image (not from neo4j) to install neo4j community edition.
In my case, the neo4j browser was initially using this "Connect URL": neo4j://127.0.0.1:7687, which the browser then automatically changed to bolt://127.0.0.1:7687. After that, I saw the same error message that you did.
If you experience that scenario, you need to change the 127.0.0.1 portion of the URL to the appropriate public IP address or public DNS hostname for your EC2 instance.
We use AWS fargate with a python project. AWS default setup is using a PEM file when connecting. I know I can turn of TLS.
My coworker says he doesn't want to store credentials in the same repo as code. What is the recommended storage location of that file?
Why do I need it when the servers inside a VPC?
Do I need a different PEM file if I create a cluster on AWS govcloud or does the bundle include all I need?

You can store the PEM file anywhere(same repository, or any other repository where the code can pull from), but it should be accessible to the code when making an encrypted connection and perform server validation.
The communication between the servers in VPC is private, but using a server certificate provides an extra layer of security by validating that the connection is being made to an Amazon DocumentDB cluster.
An Amazon DocumentDB cluster in GovCloud region should have a similar separate bundle for TLS connection.
Even if you are using Amazon Linux 2 instance, the PEM certificate file would need to be stored on the instance to allow the code to refer it and validate when opening a connection.
It is always a best practice from security point of view to use TLS and authenticate the server with the certificate.
Currently business is trying to store the data in an Amazon S3 bucket. We are trying to load it into a Relational database table using a data load utility tool in the same ec2 instance where DB is located. Unfortunately, we have to download the file from S3 into the EC2 instance where the database is installed or located.
The business also says they cannot use JDBC port or afford to use a VPN Connection.

Expected: Not to download the file into the EC2 instance where the database is located but at the same time, I need to load the data from the ec2 instance using the utility tool.

You cannot connect to a database without using the proper protocol. For example, MySQL uses TCP protocol and connects over default port of 3306. You cannot connect to database using HTTP/HTTPs protocol using port 80/443.
You can use AWS Database Migration Service to load data in CSV format from S3 to any relational database even the one residing on an EC2 instance without downloading the file on the EC2 instance.
I'm getting an error in configuring a database connection in a Google Cloud Data Fusion Pipeline.
"Encountered SQL error while getting query schema: Communications link failure The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server."
We can't connect outside of the company building as the company IP's are whitelisted in AWS security settings. I can query easily using mysql workbench inside the company so, I'm guessing I need to add some IPs to our AWS security groups to provide Data Fusion permissions? I can't find a guideline on this. Where can I find the ip's required to provide in AWS? (Assuming that might fix it)

On AWS, I know how to set up a web server with inbound rules allowing HTTP and HTTPS and a database security group that only connect to the web server. The issue is I need to create a front end to manage the databases without using Internet access - this will be internal only and precludes the use of a public IP / public DNS. Does anyone know how I would do this?
To further elaborate, some of our AWS accounts are for internal use only - we can log in to the console, use CygWin to SSH in, see what's there, etc. But these accounts are for development purposes, and in a large enterprise such as this one, these are not allowed an IGW. So - no inbound Internet access is allowed. How do I create an app (e.g., phpMyAdmin type) in which our manager can easily view and edit the data in the database given the restriction that this must be done without inbound Internet access?
Host your database on RDS inside a VPC and create a VPN connection between your client network and your VPC.
host your database on one EC2 and also upload your front end there. your database will be running on locally on EC2 and you can connect front end to database. where database will not have public DNS it will running locally you can access only using SSH and front end script.
