Angular reactive forms pattern validation not working as expected - regex

I've a reactive forms validation for a password, and the pattern is the following:

My goal is to validate the string so it is:
Between 8 & 50 characters
Has a lower case letter
Has an upper case letter
Has a number
And has a symbol
For some reason, it works like a charm, but if I enter a password that starts with a single number, the validation fails.
What am I doing wrong?

1dD5a971# -- doesn't match
11dD5a971# -- does match

I 'm not a regex expert but it may be much better if you make a multi pattern rather than just a complex pattern,the goal was for me to keep it simple as possible and you can have a different message base of the patterns.

Is it possible to modify a pattern Validator to include removing blank spaces written in an input field?

I have a validator running in which I check the format of the phone entered to be compatible with the information requested by the backend.
Would it be possible to modify this regex so that it removes or does not take into account if spaces are written between the numbers entered?

regex breaks when I use a colon(:)

I just started working with elastic search. By started working I mean I have to query an already running elastic database. Is there a good documentation of the regex they follow. I know about the one on their official site, but its not very helpful.
The more specific problem is that I want to query for lines of the sort:
10:02:37:623421|0098-TSOT {TRANSITION} {ID} {1619245525} {securityID} {} {fromStatus} {NOT_PRESENT} {toStatus} {WAITING}
or
01:01:36:832516|0058-CT {ADD} {0} {3137TTDR7} {23} {COM} {New} {0} {0} {52} {1}
and more of a similar structure. I don't want a generalized regex. If possible, could someone give me a regex expression for each of these that would run with elastic?
I noticed that it matches if the regexp matches with a substring too when I ran with:

I want to write regex that are more specific and that are different for the two examples given near the top.
turns out my message is present in the tokenized form instead of the raw form, and : is one of the default delimiters of the tokenizer, in elastic. And as a reason, I can't use regexp query on the whole message because it matches it with each token individually.

Enforcing strong passwords in Kohana Auth

I am trying to enforce strong(er) passwords in my Kohana application using Auth, by using the following regex to require at least one upper case letter, one lower case, one number, one non-alphanum (special character), and a minimum of 8 characters.

The regex is working, as can be seen on Rubular. Here's the code I'm using in Kohana's Model_Auth_User, which extends ORM.

However, when creating a new user account, or changing the password of an existing one, this regex seems to be completely ignored. The min_length from the line above is working fine though!
It will stop me from using test as a password because it's less than 8 characters, but testing123 doesn't give any sort of error message.
Any ideas why this is happening and a way around it?
Figured it out - you have to add the regex to the get_password_validation function (in the same Model) or it doesn't output any error message.

If added, the regex in the rules() function needs to be removed or it's not possible to login as it runs the regex check on the hashed string, which doesn't contain any special characters.

I may have let a bug loose on our code that essentially ruined some of our db data.
Every now and again we come across a username that has " " in his email so we need to fix this.
How can I search for a value like "/"fubak#drooop.com"/" in one field using my mongo shell?
I have been trying all the combinations I can think of like:
db.users.find(username: /"/" .* /)
and
db.users.find(username: //.*//)
or
db.users.find(username: /"".*/)
But nothing seems to work.
new RegExp('^".*')
This finds all the records that start with ".

This will match all documents which contains quotes in the email
Not to sure which one is you problem, so the solutions to both possible scenarios with data in MongoDB like this:

Do not know what you mean otherwise by "having quotes" as that is not valid JSON and by extension is also invalid BSON.

Getting parts of a URL (Regex)

Given the URL (single line):

How can I extract the following parts using regular expressions:
The Subdomain (test)
The Domain (example.com)
The path without the file (/dir/subdir/)
The file (file.html)
The path with the file (/dir/subdir/file.html)
The URL without the path (http://test.example.com)
(add any other that you think would be useful)
The regex should work correctly even if I enter the following URL:

you could then further parse the host ('.' delimited) quite easily.
What I would do is use something like this:

the further parse 'the rest' to be as specific as possible. Doing it in one regex is, well, a bit crazy.
I'm a few years late to the party, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Uniform Resource Identifier specification has a section on parsing URIs with a regular expression. The regular expression, written by Berners-Lee, et al., is:

For what it's worth, I found that I had to escape the forward slashes in JavaScript:

I realize I'm late to the party, but there is a simple way to let the browser parse a url for you without a regex:

It can not handle port number.

From my answer on a similar question. Works better than some of the others mentioned because they had some bugs (such as not supporting username/password, not supporting single-character filenames, fragment identifiers being broken).
You can get all the http/https, host, port, path as well as query by using Uri object in .NET.
just the difficult task is to break the host into sub domain, domain name and TLD.
There is no standard to do so and can't be simply use string parsing or RegEx to produce the correct result. At first, I am using RegEx function but not all URL can be parse the subdomain correctly. The practice way is to use a list of TLDs. After a TLD for a URL is defined the left part is domain and the remaining is sub domain.
However the list need to maintain it since new TLDs is possible. The current moment I know is publicsuffix.org maintain the latest list and you can use domainname-parser tools from google code to parse the public suffix list and get the sub domain, domain and TLD easily by using DomainName object: domainName.SubDomain, domainName.Domain and domainName.TLD.

On a side note, PHP offers parse_url().
I would recommend not using regex. An API call like WinHttpCrackUrl() is less error prone.

For example, I have this URL, and I have an enumeration that lists all supported URLs in my program. Each object in the enumeration has a method getRegexPattern that returns the regex pattern which will then be used to compare with a URL. If the particular regex pattern returns true, then I know that this URL is supported by my program. So, each enumeration has it's own regex depending on where it should look inside the URL.
Hometoast's suggestion is great, but in my case, I think it wouldn't help (unless I copy paste the same regex in all enumerations).
That is why I wanted the answer to give the regex for each situation separately. Although +1 for hometoast. ;)
I know you're claiming language-agnostic on this, but can you tell us what you're using just so we know what regex capabilities you have?
If you have the capabilities for non-capturing matches, you can modify hometoast's expression so that subexpressions that you aren't interested in capturing are set up like this:
(?:SOMESTUFF)
You'd still have to copy and paste (and slightly modify) the Regex into multiple places, but this makes sense--you're not just checking to see if the subexpression exists, but rather if it exists as part of a URL. Using the non-capturing modifier for subexpressions can give you what you need and nothing more, which, if I'm reading you correctly, is what you want.
Just as a small, small note, hometoast's expression doesn't need to put brackets around the 's' for 'https', since he only has one character in there. Quantifiers quantify the one character (or character class or subexpression) directly preceding them. So:
https?
would match 'http' or 'https' just fine.

The regex to do full parsing is quite horrendous. I've included named backreferences for legibility, and broken each part into separate lines, but it still looks like this:

The thing that requires it to be so verbose is that except for the protocol or the port, any of the parts can contain HTML entities, which makes delineation of the fragment quite tricky. So in the last few cases - the host, path, file, querystring, and fragment, we allow either any html entity or any character that isn't a ? or #. The regex for an html entity looks like this:

The best answer suggested here didn't work for me because my URLs also contain a port.
However modifying it to the following regex worked for me:
