I have this red square near the label:
How to remove this?
This is my chart imoplementation
var ctx = document.getElementById(chart').getContext("2d");
var myChart = new Chart(ctx, {
type: 'bar',
responsive: true,
data: {
labels: ["test"]
datasets: [{
label: "Sfarzoso",
fill: false,
borderColor: '#000',
borderWidth: 2,
borderDash: [],
borderDashOffset: 0.0,
data: ["1"]
backgroundColor: ["#fff5f7"]
}]
},
});
How can i achieve such result?
You need to add options object and indicate not to display the legend
var options = {
legend: {
display: false
}
};
Then use the options in the constructor of your chart
var myChart = new Chart(ctx, {
type: 'bar',
responsive: true,
/* include options in the constructor */
options: options,
... }
See sample below
Documentation about options available are on their website: https://www.chartjs.org/docs/latest/getting-started/
var ctx = document.getElementById('chart').getContext("2d");
// add options object - indicate not to display the legend
var options = {
legend: {
display: false
}
};
var myChart = new Chart(ctx, {
type: 'bar',
responsive: true,
/* include options in the constructor */
options: options,
data: {
labels: ["test"],
datasets: [{
label: "Sfarzoso",
fill: false,
borderColor: '#000',
borderWidth: 2,
borderDash: [],
borderDashOffset: 0.0,
data: ["1"],
backgroundColor: ["#fff5f7"]
}]
},
});

I am having trouble with my chartsjs labels.
my graph generates fine, I am trying to set the chart so that the data labels are for the text part of the data and not the numbers part. my code shows the data labels as 4, 6 and 2 where as i need them to show the text: me, you and them.
<script>
var ctx = document.getElementById('myChart4').getContext('2d');
var myChart4 = new Chart(ctx, {
plugins: [ChartDataLabels],
type: 'doughnut',
data: {
labels: ['me','you','them'
],
datasets: [{
label: false,
data: [4,6,2
],
}]
},
options: {
responsive: false,
plugins: {
datalabels: {
color: 'black',
anchor: 'end',
align: 'end',
offset: 15
},
legend: {
display: false
},
title: {
display: true,
text:'Reason'
}
},
responsive: false,
onClick: (evt, activeEls) => {
show();
},
}
});
You can use the formatter function for this:
Chart.register(ChartDataLabels)
const options = {
type: 'bar',
data: {
labels: ["Red", "Blue", "Yellow", "Green", "Purple", "Orange"],
datasets: [{
label: '# of Votes',
data: [12, 19, 3, 5, 2, 3],
backgroundColor: 'orange'
}]
},
options: {
plugins: {
datalabels: {
color: 'black',
anchor: 'end',
align: 'end',
offset: 15,
formatter: (val, ctx) => (ctx.chart.data.labels[ctx.dataIndex])
},
}
}
}
const ctx = document.getElementById('chartJSContainer').getContext('2d');
new Chart(ctx, options);

Hello i am rendering these charts using chart js but i am unable to align these charts in the same order my config file and options file is given below
can anyone please help me with this. i tried with below options and data
const options = {
indexAxis: "y",
maintainAspectRatio: false,
aspectRatio: 0.8,
barThickness: 20,
responsive: true,
layout: {
padding: {
left: 1
}
},
plugins: {
legend: {
display: false
}
},
scales: {
x: {
ticks: {
color: "#495057"
},
grid: {
color: "#ebedef"
}
},
y: {
ticks: {
color: "#495057",
crossAlign: "near"
},
grid: {
color: "#ebedef"
},
gridLines: {
offsetGridLines: true,
display: true
}
}
}
};
const data = {
labels: ["red"],
datasets: [{
backgroundColor: "#42A5F5",
data: [65],
borderWidth: 2,
borderRadius: 75,
borderSkipped: false
},
{
backgroundColor: "#FFA726",
data: [28],
borderWidth: 2,
borderRadius: 50,
borderSkipped: false
}
]
};
how to align one below the other labels
As far as I know chart.js does not provide an option to set a minimum distance for the labels, a workaround to achieve this is to add spaces the the labels of the charts where the labels are shorter as the longest one so you will get something like this:
var options = {
type: 'bar',
data: {
labels: [" Red"],
datasets: [{
label: '# of Votes',
data: [12],
backgroundColor: 'pink'
}]
},
options: {
indexAxis: 'y'
}
}
var ctx = document.getElementById('chartJSContainer').getContext('2d');
new Chart(ctx, options);
<body>
<canvas id="chartJSContainer" width="600" height="400"></canvas>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/Chart.js/3.5.0/chart.js"></script>
</body>
var options = {
type: 'bar',
data: {
labels: [" Red"],
datasets: [{
label: '# of Votes',
data: [12],
backgroundColor: 'pink'
}]
},
options: {
indexAxis: 'y'
}
}
var options2 = {
type: 'bar',
data: {
labels: [" Yellowwwww"],
datasets: [{
label: '# of Votes',
data: [12],
backgroundColor: 'pink'
}]
},
options: {
indexAxis: 'y'
}
}
var ctx = document.getElementById('chartJSContainer').getContext('2d');
var ctx2 = document.getElementById('chartJSContainer2').getContext('2d');
new Chart(ctx2, options2);
new Chart(ctx, options);
<body>
<canvas id="chartJSContainer" width="600" height="400"></canvas>
<canvas id="chartJSContainer2" width="600" height="400"></canvas>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/Chart.js/3.5.0/chart.js"></script>
</body>
I'm trying to recreate this below chart with a stacked option on my background lines
But my attempts were unsuccessful with this image below as result
$(function() {
var areaChartCanvas = $('#areaChart').get(0).getContext('2d')
var areaChartData = {
labels: ['', '', ''],
datasets: [{
backgroundColor: 'transparent',
borderColor: 'black',
pointRadius: false,
data: [32, 12, 28],
type: 'line'
}, {
backgroundColor: 'red',
pointRadius: false,
data: [20, 20, 20]
}, {
backgroundColor: 'orange',
pointRadius: false,
data: [40, 40, 40]
}, {
backgroundColor: 'cyan',
pointRadius: false,
data: [60, 60, 60]
}]
}
var areaChartOptions = {
maintainAspectRatio: false,
responsive: true,
legend: {
display: false
},
scales: {
xAxes: [{
gridLines: {
display: true,
}
}],
yAxes: [{
gridLines: {
display: true,
},
stacked: true
}]
}
}
var areaChart = new Chart(areaChartCanvas, {
type: 'line',
data: areaChartData,
options: areaChartOptions
})
})
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/Chart.js/2.8.0/Chart.min.js"></script>
<canvas id="areaChart" style="height:250px"></canvas>
ideally, I want to be able to create 'AREAS' with different colors that will be stacked according to the interval I pass to it.
e.g:
cyan - 20
orange - 20
red - 20
but currently, I'm doing
cyan - 60
orange - 40
red - 20
If I understand you correctly, I thought about different approach and extends the chart with Plugin[1] (Inspired by https://stackoverflow.com/a/49303362/863110)
Chart.pluginService.register({
beforeDraw: function (chart, easing) {
if (chart.config.options.fillColor) {
var ctx = chart.chart.ctx;
var chartArea = chart.chartArea;
ctx.save();
let delta = 0;
const chartHeight = chartArea.bottom - chartArea.top;
const bottomBarHeight = chart.height - chartHeight - chartArea.top;
chart.config.options.fillColor.map(color => {
const colorHeight = chartHeight * (color[0] / 100);
const colorBottom = chartArea.bottom + colorHeight;
ctx.fillStyle = color[1];
const x = chartArea.left,
y = chart.height - bottomBarHeight - colorHeight - delta,
width = chartArea.right - chartArea.left,
height = colorHeight;
delta += height;
ctx.fillRect(x, y, width, height);
ctx.restore();
})
}
}
});
var chartData = {
labels: ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd'],
datasets: [{
label: 'value',
borderColor: 'blue',
data: [30, 50, 25, 10]
}]
};
var ctx = document.getElementById("myChart").getContext("2d");
var myBar = new Chart(ctx, {
type: 'line',
data: chartData,
options: {
scales: {
yAxes: [{ ticks: { max: 60 } }]
},
legend: { display: false },
fillColor: [
[20, 'red'],
[20, 'blue'],
[20, 'green'],
[20, 'pink'],
[20, 'yellow'],
]
}
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/Chart.js/2.7.2/Chart.min.js"></script>

[1] - With Plugin you can custom the chart's behaviour. When you use Plugin you get an API so you can "listen" to life cycle events of the chart (beforeDraw for example) and call your own code. The API calls your function and gives you data about the chart so you can use it in your code.In this example, we're using the API to (1) Run a code before the chart been drawing (2) Using the data to calculate the areas of the different colors. (3) Draw additional shapes (ctx.fillRect) based on the calculation.
I've been searching for a solution to this for a while but am getting no nearer to a solution due to the mass of deleted documentation and hacky answers for previous versions of the library.
I'm working on a chart with ChartJS v2 with quarterly-month names along the x-axis, and I've set my labels so that only every 4th label is shown (i.e. one per year). The result is this:
However, I would like to have it such that the tick lines also only appear on every 4th x-axis entry at the same point as the labels. Is this possible?
My current script tag is as follows:
<script>
var ctx = document.getElementById("myChart").getContext('2d');
ctx.canvas.width = 600;
ctx.canvas.height = 420;
var myChart = new Chart(ctx, {
type: 'line',
data: {
< snipped for brevity >
},
options: {
tooltips: {
mode: 'index',
intersect: false
},
scales: {
xAxes: [{
ticks: {
userCallback: function(item, index) {
if (index%4) return "";
return item;
},
autoSkip: false
},
display: true
}],
yAxes: [{
ticks: {
beginAtZero:true
}
}]
}
}
});
</script>
Is this possible to achieve? Thanks in advance.
Replace your tick's userCallback function with the following ...
userCallback: function(item, index) {
if (!(index % 4)) return item;
}
Basically, you don't need to return any empty string for the label that you wish to hide. If you do not return anything (for the label you don't want), it won't draw any tick (as well as gridline) for that label.

My last column does not show, I use chart.js 2.5,the framework is used laravel 5.4,the data has been confirmed into the incoming.
Look at this figure:
data has been into the incoming :
var ctxBar = $('#barChart');
var data2 = {
labels: {!!json_encode($project_names, JSON_UNESCAPED_UNICODE) !! },
datasets: [{
backgroundColor: [
'rgba(255, 99, 132, 0.2)'
],
borderColor: [
'rgba(255,99,132,1)'
],
borderWidth: 2,
data: {!!json_encode(TasksCountArray($projects), JSON_UNESCAPED_UNICODE) !! }
}]
};
var myBarChart = new Chart(ctxBar, {
type: 'bar',
data: data2,
options: {
responsive: true,
