Build failed after adding new main file in NetBeans - c++

I am new to NetBeans (switched from Dev) and added a new main file to a project to try to test a few things out (clearly this is not acceptable in NetBeans). Now, even though I've deleted the extra main file, my builds keep failing and I am seeing "No rule to make target newmain.cpp', needed bybuild/Debug/MinGW-Windows/newmain.o'. Stop" ... so it seems like it's still looking for the extra main file even though I've deleted it. How do I stop this from happening?
UPDATE: found the file and removed it from the project correctly, but deleted the Makefile in the process. How do I recreate the Makefile?

FreeRTOS.h file not found - VS Code for Mac despite includePath modified & all filed in project folder

I am trying my best to include FreeRTOS into a new Project on VS Code for Mac.
I have created a directory for my project, added a main.cpp, configure the default build task for C/C++ clang. I have also created the c_cpp_properties.json.
My project consists of three folders; 'src' containing my main.cpp, and 'FreeRTOS' containing all of the source files for FreeRTOS (include & portable folders), and 'Demo' containing a demo app built for the CORTEX_ATSAM3X_Atmel_Studio board (that comes with the FreeRTOS download).
In my main.cpp file, I have an empty main function, that I can build successfully. The minute I try to add #include <FreeRTOS.h> to main.cpp, I am given the error FreeRTOS.h file not found.
What is interesting, is the first time I try to build, it recognises FreeRTOS.h, and the error I see is that it cannot find a file included in the FreeRTOS.h. To remedy this, I add the specific subdirectory to c_cpp_properties. I rebuild and then it shows me another file it cannot locate. So I work again manually amending another subdirectory. After 5 or 6 times, suddenly it fails to find FreeRTOS.h. When I delete all of the includePath entries except "${workspaceFolder}/**" I cannot get back to my starting point.
I have spent the last two days stuck on this, reading forums, starting my process again and I still cannot see where I am going wrong.
Probably I run into the same issue.
The problem was FreeRTOSConfig.h contains this definition
#define CMSIS_device_header "stm32h7xx.h"
which is next used in freertos_os2.h header (only):
#include CMSIS_device_header
and that is where build gets confused. It is not the perfect solution but removing the CMSIS_device_header variable and specifying stm32h7xx.h header directly in freertos_os2.h file solved my problem.

Modifying the contents of a .cpp file

UPDATE: I am now able to compile the .cpp file with make
(I can see the compilation output). However, the changes does not seem to take affect.
After i run make, i restart the computer, but still no changes.
As you probably understand, I have very limited experience with c++.
I am currently working on a project (OpenBTS) and have found an error in one of the .cpp files after the project has been built and installed.
My question is, how can I modify the contents (f.eks change the string of a JSON data reference) of a .cpp file and build it so I can see the changes afterwards?
I have currently tried the following:
1.
make 'filename.cpp'
make: Nothing to be done for 'filename.cpp'
2.
make 'filename'
g++ 'filename.cpp' -o 'filename'
In file included from 'filename.cpp:29:0:
'filname.h':26:21: fatal error: Timeval.h: No such file or directory
#include <Timeval.h>
compilation terminated.
3. Run make from root directory:
Nothing to be done for 'all.'
4. Run make clean and make from root. This rebuilds the project but the
changes are still not in effect (I can see that the JSON String is not
changed at the webserver).
5. Run ./build.sh script. Still no changes.
Regarding the 2. method, as the project was built and compiled successfully, how come when i try that with a single file, the compiler can't find the header files? The only thing i changed was a string from "ARFCN" to "ARFCNtest".
Since there are about 50 header files that depends on each other, changing the include from <> to "" and copy every single file into the same directory seems like a waste and unnecessary action?
The changes didn't take effect because the compilation failed. See the error message you quoted in the question. Fix that and rebuild.
Incidentally, restarting your computer shouldn't be necessary. Even the make clean shouldn't be necessary if the Makefile correctly expresses the dependencies. (It seems to do so in this case since it tried to recompile the source file you modified.)

Changing name of application file (.C file)

I changed the name of an modified application to seperate it from the basic application. Lets say the .C file of the old application is "OldApplication.C" and of the new modified one is "NewApplication.C" Unfortunately, when trying to start the new modified application in terminal by typing "NewApplication" I get:
NewApplication: command not found
Two Question:
How can I make my new application executeable?
Can someone give me a brief overview about the files of a project/application and their functions?
greetings, streight
The mistake of this kind
make: * No rule to make target OldApplication.dep', needed byMake/linuxGccDPOpt/dependencies'. Stop.
often occurs in situation when the Makefile ceases to comply with the structure of the whole project.
In your case make script obviously trying to find the file that was renamed by you and therefore it fails with en error. I think that you should explore the structure of your Makefile and replace all the changed file names with its new versions.
Also you say the you are refused to launch your new executable, but what else could be expected since the project was not compiled?

ui and cpp files are out of sync

Everything was fine until I decided to add another combobox (which I did not rename and is indeed called comboBox) into my .ui when I realized that ui->comboBox was not recognized. All my other widgets etc that I added awhile ago still work though. When I debug I get http://i.stack.imgur.com/xVs8X.png but i know for a fact that I created it. Usually bugs like these I could just close my Qt and start it up again and all would be well but not this time. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this issue? I'm using Qt5.1.0.
I noticed this problem after I built Qt statically. Could that be the issue?
Example:
detail.ui
trying to access the button in detail.cpp
As you can see, i can still access all of the previous widgets etc before I made Qt Statically. But now, when I make a new pushbutton, cpp file does not recognize this.
I had to run Qt5.1.0 for Desktop (MinGW4.8 32bit) prompt. cd C:\path\to\project.pro and then type mingw32-make clean
In my case there was a copy of the auto generated "ui_xyz" file in my working directory(source files) so the compiler wasn't referring to new one in the build directory.

Codeblocks cannot create output directory

I'm using Code::Blocks 12.11 in Widnows XP. I've been learning C++, so I haven't been working on any specific projects, just individual files. I'm trying to debug one of these files, but found from this question that I needed to be in a project in order to debug. So, I created a project for all of my C++ practice files. Now, when I try to debug (or run) the program, Code::Blocks gives me this error: "Can't create output directory bin\Debug.
When I remove the file from the project it still gives me this error. What can I do to try to fix this so that the program can run and debug?
Additional information:
In Settings>Compiler>Global Compiler Settings>Compiler Settings>Compiler Flags, I have enabled "Produce debugging symbols [-g]". This is something that a lot of other resources I've checked have mentioned.
Also, under Debug>Active Debuggers, I've tried using both debuggers, both of which produce the same error message.
Why don't you try to remove the entire project directory, create an empty project and then place the source files one by one into the project. Beware if you have a main() method in each of your source files.
Well, a friend of mine was getting the same error. So I decided to check it out.
I my case, the error was because of the account user name.
When I checked, the output directory while creating the file and the one in the error being shown, were different.
When I checked, I created an user account name with "$aaa$", and I got the same error.
and I noticed that the error was because of the "$" sign. (Probably).
So, I guess the problem is with the user name. Try changing the user name to something simple.
