I'm new to Django, have been doing several tutorials to get really comfortable with the structuring, and am now running through the official tutorial.
I've created an polls App, which has a polls/views.py file as follows:

from django.http import HttpResponse

def index(request):
return HttpResponse("Hello, World. You're at the polls index.")
I've also created an App URLconf file polls/urls.py with the following code:
from django.conf.urls import url
from . import views
url_patterns = [
url(r'^$', views.index, name='index'),
]
This is pretty much exactly as done in the Django tutorial.
My issue is when I'm specifying url routes in the main projectname/url.py file on a project level as such:
from django.conf.urls import include, url
from django.contrib import admin
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^polls/', include('polls.urls')),
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
]
When doing this, I get the following error:
django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: The included URLconf '<module 'polls.urls' from 'ProjectFolder\\polls\\urls.py'>' does not appear to have any patterns in it. If you see valid patterns in the file then the issue is probably caused by a circular import.
This is how the official Django tutorial dictates it to be done. However, if I explicity import the polls/views.py file from the app, I can accomplish the task as follows:
from django.conf.urls import url
from django.contrib import admin
from polls import views
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'^polls/', views.index),
]
My immediate concern is the import of every app/urls file I ever create being necessitated by this approach, as well as the obvious divergence from the official Django instruction.
I hesitated to even ask this question because I feel that such a fundamental issue has bound to have an easy fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
To clarify, I can get around the error by explicitly importing the view files from apps. Whenever using the Django documentation-described approach of using the include() function I receive the error. I can appreciate the value of this function, and would like to know why is giving me the error described above.
Just writte urlpatterns = [ .. and not url_patterns in your poll.views.py.

This is probably pretty simple but I can't get my head around it. I'm learning Django, have v3.0.4 installed and can't get the URLs from an app to work correctly.
On the project urls.py I have the following:

If I browse to http://127.0.0.1:8000/ the index page loads and I see the text "My Second App" as expected. However if I browse to http://127.0.0.1:8000/help I get page not found 404 error.
I can also browse to the admin page just fine. So far this is a stock project, the only other change I made after creating it was to the settings.py file to install the "AppTwo" application. Based on the documentation, this looks like it should work, so what am I doing wrong?

I thought I may have mistyped something so I went back and copied the code from the docs and pasted it directly into my editor and still got the same error. I'm not sure what a circular import is but I am also working with virtualenv for the first time and am not sure if that could be causing this. Any suggestions?

Your app is called "poll", not "polls". So you have to include it by that name:
path('polls/', include('poll.urls')),
This is my first time deploying Django. My app runs fine locally, but when I deploy, I get this error:

Is there anything I need to change in regards to deployment? All the changes I made to my files regarding deployment are about static and media file directories. What else do I need to change for deployment? As far as I am aware, I have uploaded all files to the hosting server and the app shouldn't be missing any file.

In the latest release of Django (as of this post), patterns is not used.
You can use re_path for the same effect. For Example:
from django.urls import include, re_path
from django.contrib import admin
from myapp.views import *
urlpatterns = [
re_path(r'^admin', include(admin.site.urls)),
re_path(r'^$', home, name='home'),
]

If you want to use earlier versions (but i don't see why you would want to do it) , anything below that i.e. 1.9 should be ok, but do note it has been slotted for deprecation since 1.8 i think.
And if you're using django, especially if you are new, I don't see why you would want to use your own login app. Django has a very mature and customizable auth backend. For starters, I strongly suggest you check it out. Useful examples of usage at https://djangobook.com/authentication-views/
If you are using the latest version of Django, then patterns is has been deprecated. You would simply use URL and/or Path depending on if you are on 1.11 or 2.0. If you require patterns, then you would need to downgrade to an earlier Django version.

The view.py has

and I get this error:

The current URL, , didn't match any of these.
I can't seem to get it right..

You are requesting for / url and you have not saved any such mapping. Current mapping is for /blog . So it will work for the same url.
i.e goto the browser and request /blog
If you need it to work for / then change the urls appropriately.
within your blog app, create a urls.py file and add the following code which calls the home view.
blog/urls.py
from django.conf.urls import url
from . import views
urlpatterns = [
#url(r'^',views.home, name='home'),
]
then in your root urls file which can be found at FirstBlog/urls.py
from django.conf.urls import url, include
from django.contrib import admin
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^blog/',include('blog.urls')), #when you visit this url, it will go into the blog application and visit the internal urls in the app

your templates should be in blog/templates/blog/index.html

You are doing this in the wrong way! Try doing that using TemplateView from class-based views, which are the current standard from django views.

Use this at the urls.py:

from django.views.generic import TemplateView
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^blog/', TemplateView.as_view(template_name="index.html")),
]
And then, create a folder called templates in the project root ( like this: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.9/intro/tutorial03/#write-views-that-actually-do-something ) named index.html
Simply go to file then select Save all your project instead of save. Or use shortcut Ctrl +k s on windows. Project should be able to sync and display the code on Django interface
