I need to sort data from database in alphanumerical order. For example, we have that data: 1,A,B,C,2,3,10. After sorting must be: 1,2,3,10,A,B,C.
That how it will work in MySQL:
SELECT Name FROM garden ORDER BY Name=0,-Name DESC, Name
How to do something like that in symfony doctrine?

I've a table "City" with more than 100k records.
The field "name" contains strings like "Roma", "La Valletta".
I receive a file with the city name, all in upper case as in "ROMA".
I need to get the id of the record that contains "Roma" when I search for "ROMA".
In SQL, I must do something like:
select id from city where upper(name) = upper(%name%)
How can I do this in kettle?
Note: if the city is not found, I use an Insert/update field to create it, so I must avoid duplicates generated by case-sensitive names.
You can make use of the String Operations steps in Pentaho Kettle. Set the Lower/Upper option to Y
Pass the city (name) from the City table to the String operations steps which will do the Upper case of your data stream i.e. city name. Join/lookup with the received file and get the required id.
More on String Operations step in pentaho wiki.
You can use a 'Database join' step. Here you can write the sql:
select id from city where upper(name) = upper(?)
and specify the city field name from the text file as parameter. With 'Number of rows to return' and 'Outer join?' you can control the join behaviour.
This solution doesn't work well with a large number of rows, as it will execute one query per row. In those cases Rishu's solution is better.
This is how I did:
First "Modified JavaScript value" step for create a query:
var queryDest="select coalesce( (select id as idcity from city where upper(name) = upper('"+replace(mycity,"'","\'\'")+"') and upper(cap) = upper('"+mycap+"') ), 0) as idcitydest";
Then I use this string as a query in a Dynamic SQL row.
After that,
IF idcitydest == 0 then
insert new city;
else
use the found record
This system make a query for file's row but it use few memory cache
I have an sqlite database which has number sequences with random separators. For example
_id data
0 123-45/678>90
1 11*11-22-333
2 4-4-5-67891
I want to be able to query the database "intelligently" with and without the separators. For example, both these queries returning _id=0
SELECT _id FROM myTable WHERE data LIKE '%123-45%'
SELECT _id FROM myTable WHERE data LIKE '%12345%'
The 1st query works as is, but the 2nd query is the problem. Because the separators appear randomly in the database there are too many combinations to loop through in the search term.
I could create two columns, one with separators and one without, running each query against each column, but the database is huge so I want to avoid this if possible.
Is there some way to structure the 2nd query to achieve this as is ? Something like a regex on each row during the query ? Pseudo code
SELECT _id
FROM myTable
WHERE REPLACEALL(data,'(?<=\\d)[-/>*](?=\\d)','') LIKE '%12345%'
Ok this is far from being nice, but you could straightforwardly nest the REPLACE function. Example:
SELECT _id FROM myTable
WHERE REPLACE(..... REPLACE(REPLACE(data,'-',''),'_',''), .... '<all other separators>','') = '12345'
When using this in practice (--not that I would recommend it, but at least its simple), you surely might wrap it inside a function.
EDIT: for a small doc on the REPLACE function, see here, for example.
If I get it right, is this what you want?
SELECT _id
FROM myTable
WHERE Replace(Replace(Replace(data, '?', ''), '/', ''), '-', '') LIKE '%12345%'

I have a table in the below format.
Name Department

I need an output in the below format.

I have tried the 'LISTAGG' function, but there is a hard limit of 4000 characters. Since my db table is huge, this cannot be used in the app. The other option is to use the
SELECT CAST(COLLECT(Name)
But my framework allows me to execute only select queries and no PL/SQL scripts.Hence i dont find any way to create a type using "CREATE TYPE" command which is required for the COLLECT command.
Is there any alternate way to achieve the above result using select query ?
You should add GetClobVal and also need to rtrim as it will return delimiter in the end of the results.
SELECT RTRIM(XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(E,colname,',').EXTRACT('//text()')
ORDER BY colname).GetClobVal(),',') from tablename;
if you cant create types (you can't just use sql*plus to create on as a one off?), but you're OK with COLLECT, then use a built-in array. There's several knocking around in the RDBMS. run this query:
select owner, type_name, coll_type, elem_type_name, upper_bound, length
from all_coll_types
where elem_type_name = 'VARCHAR2';
e.g. on my db, I can use sys.DBMSOUTPUT_LINESARRAY which is a varray of considerable size.
select department,
cast(collect(name) as sys.DBMSOUTPUT_LINESARRAY)
from emp
group by department;
A derivative of #anuu_online but handle unescaping the XML in the result.
dbms_xmlgen.convert(xmlagg(xmlelement(E, name||',')).extract('//text()').getclobval(),1)
For IBM DB2, Casting the result to a varchar(10000) will give more than 4000.
select column1, listagg(CAST(column2 AS VARCHAR(10000)), x'0A') AS "Concat column"...
I end up in another approach using the XMLAGG function which doesn't have the hard limit of 4000.
select department,
XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(E,name||',')).EXTRACT('//text()')
from emp
group by department;
You can use:
SELECT department
, REGEXP_REPLACE(XMLCAST(XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(x, name, ',')) AS CLOB), ',$')
FROM emp
GROUP BY department
it will return CLOB that has no size limit, handles correctly XML entity escapes and separators.
Instead of REGEXP_REPLACE(..., ',$')) you can use RTRIM(..., ','), which should be faster, but will remove all separators from the end of the result (including those that can appear in name at the end, or previous ones if last names are empty).
I use HSQLDB2.0 and JPA2.0 for my current project and have few date columns in DB.
I would like to run wildcard queries on the date columns. How could I do that?
Ex : If my DB contains two rows with date values as : 10-01-2011 and 15-02-2011
and my search criteria will be "%10-01%", then result should be 10-01-2011.
Else if search criteria is "%2011%" then both rows need to be fetched with the select query.
Thanks in advance,
Satya
You can define an autogenerated column of type VARCHAR containing a copy of the date. You can then perform queries with both LIKE predicates and REGEXP_MATCHES() function. An example of the column definition is below:
DATEGEN VARCHAR(10) GENERATED ALWAYS AS (CAST(DATECOL AS VARCHAR(10))
Note the string representation of DATE is in the form '2011-02-26' and your query strings should follow this pattern.
This can be achieved in this format :
select date_birth from member where to_char(date_birth,'MM-yyyy') like '%02-2011%'
select date_birth from member where to_char(date_birth,'MM-dd') like '%02-15%'
select date_birth from member where to_char(date_birth,'dd-yyyy') like '%30-2011%'

I was following the documentation on FullTextSearch in postgresql. I've created a tsvector column and added the information i needed, and finally i've created an index.
Now, to do the search i have to execute a query like this
SELECT *, ts_rank_cd(textsearchable_index_col, query) AS rank
FROM client, plainto_tsquery('famille age') query
WHERE textsearchable_index_col ## query
ORDER BY rank DESC LIMIT 10;
I want to be able to execute this with Django's ORM so i could get the objects. (A little question here: do i need to add the tsvector column to my model?)
My guess is that i should use extra() to change the "where" and "tables" in the queryset
Maybe if i change the query to this, it would be easier:
SELECT * FROM client
WHERE plainto_tsquery('famille age') ## textsearchable_index_col
ORDER BY ts_rank_cd(textsearchable_index_col, plainto_tsquery(text_search)) DESC LIMIT 10
so id' have to do something like:
Client.objects.???.extra(where=[???])
Thxs for your help :)
Another thing, i'm using Django 1.1
Caveat: I'm writing this on a wobbly train, with a headcold, but this should do the trick:
where_statement = """plainto_tsquery('%s') ## textsearchable_index_col
ORDER BY ts_rank_cd(textsearchable_index_col,
plainto_tsquery(%s))
DESC LIMIT 10"""
qs = Client.objects.extra(where=[where_statement],
params=['famille age', 'famille age'])
If you were on Django 1.2 you could just call:
Client.objects.raw("""
SELECT *, ts_rank_cd(textsearchable_index_col, query) AS rank
FROM client, plainto_tsquery('famille age') query
WHERE textsearchable_index_col ## query
ORDER BY rank DESC LIMIT 10;""")
