I'm having a chart build with ChartJS. I'm including datasets.label in multipleTooltipLabel template and facing an update issue. When changing a datasets.label and running chart.update() the tooltip is not updated. I created a JSFiddle demonstrating the issue.
The code I use to include datasets label in tooltip:
var options = {
multiTooltipTemplate: "<%=datasetLabel%>: <%= value + ' %' %>"
};
Beside that option I followed ChartJS usage example for Line charts.
Change label and update chart:
myNewChart.datasets[0].label = 'updated label';
myNewChart.update();
Label shown in tooltip is not updated...
I had a look in ChartJS source code and figured out that showTooltip function is called with a ChartElements array which was not updated.
Update: I might cached the issue. label of dataset is set on each point element and not updated if it changes. showTooltip used this "cached" dataset label when drawing a tooltip. Perhaps this should not be a question on StackOverflow but a bug report for ChartJS.
I found a solution:
myNewChart.datasets[0].points.forEach(function(point) {
point.datasetLabel = 'updated label';
});
This might also be the way it should be done. Chart.js documentation of update method says you should set myLineChart.datasets[0].points[2].value = 50; to change the value. That's confusing cause on creation dataset expects the values in data property. points is generated by Chart.Line Class on init. Naming may be different for other chart types (eg. it's bars for a bar chart).
I'm not quite sure if myLineChart.datasets[0].label value is used somewhere or if could be unchanged.
I could solve your problem by changing the original data object (data.datasets[0].label='updated label') then running myNewChart.initialize(data).
var option = {
plugins: {
tooltip: {
callbacks: {
label: function (context) {
//console.log(context);
label = 'new string ' + context.label + ', ' + context.dataIndex;
return label;
}
}
}
}
};
myChart.options = option;

I have this issue. The default behavior of XY amchart is to load all data, and on legend click - hide the current selection. Is it possible to revert this behavior?
Like, if I select a legend- to hide all the other elements from the chart and leave the current selection.
The grammar may be strange with the help of a translator because of the weak English.
chart.legend.itemContainers.template.togglable = false;
The code above deactivates the basic behavior of the legend.
chart.legend.itemContainers.template.events.on("hit", function(ev) {
let targetName = ev.target.dataItem.dataContext.name;
chart.series.each(function (item) {
if(targetName != item.name){
item.disabled = true;
}
});
});
The code above is an event when you click the legend.
I don't know if it's the answer you want, but I wrote it down...
How to fix the problem of having the navbar as position: fixed in Sitecore 9.3. I saw some solutions on the blogs, but it only fixes the issue on the Sitecore 8 versions.
Basically when I open the partial design in Sitecore Experience Editor, I have set my navbar as position fixed in theme css file, and it shows the navbar below the scWebEditRibbon. I also saw that scWebEditRibbon is now position fixed, still it does not fix my issue since I also have position fixed on my element.
I fixed the issue by using the script provided Richard Szalay, I just changed the variable as you can see here:
Here is the script:
// Repositions a position-fixed header so that it always appears under the SC experience editor ribbon
define(["sitecore"], function (Sitecore) {
return {
priority: 50,
execute: function (context) {
// TODO: Change this CSS selector to suit your application
var FIXED_NAV_SELECTOR = '#navbar';
// the 'cross piece' is a blank div that is sized to match the iframe content (where the actual ribbon is)
var scWebEditRibbon = window.parent.document.getElementById('scWebEditRibbon');
var nav = window.parent.document.querySelector(FIXED_NAV_SELECTOR);
if (scWebEditRibbon && 'MutationObserver' in window) {
var observer = new MutationObserver(function (mutations) {
nav.style.top = scWebEditRibbon.style.height;
});
observer.observe(scWebEditRibbon, { attributes: true, attributeFilter: ['style'] });
}
}
};
});
I'm very new to Oracle Apex and currently I want to use and customize Gantt charts. What I want to achieve it to show line breaks in the row-labels. Currently every newline character gets cut out and I am not sure where this happens and how I can prevent this.
The marked text contains newline characters. Don't be confused by the <br>, I just tests if this does the trick.
I just want to show more some information in the for each row. If there is another more elegant way, it would be very nice to give a tip.
Update:
I did some research and found a very nice example on a similar topic, in this case to create a custom tooltip https://youtu.be/2rZAIR_0tNg?t=2532.
I wanted to do the same thing for the row_axis label renderer, but nothing gets visualized.
The render function I use:
function custom_row_axis_label_renderer(data_context){
var row_axis_label_elem = document.createElement("g");
$("row_axis_label_elem").addClass("custom_row_axis_label");
row_axis_label_elem.innerHTML = '<text font-size="14px">Hello World</text>';
console.log(row_axis_label_elem);
return row_axis_label_elem;
}
The rendered element kind of exists, but it's get the size 0x0 from somewhere.
Am I missing something here?
Regards,
Nik
Meanwhile I found the solution on how to build a custom renderer. The main part I didn't new is that you NEED to pass x and y coordinates to have the new label to be rendered correctly. I found a proper example the the oracle forum, but unfortunately I can't find the link anymore to give credit to the original example.
Here is my code. It creates two text elements below each other to achieve a mocked line break and it adds a yellow icon. Of course you can use the data_context object to access the actual label. Add this part in the "Function and Global Variable Declaration
" part of your page:
custom_row_axis_label_renderer = function (data_context){
var row_axis_label_elem = document.createElementNS("http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "g");
var upper_text = document.createElementNS("http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "text");
var lower_text = document.createElementNS("http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "text");
var icon_node = document.createElementNS("http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "circle");
upper_text.textContent = "Hello";
upper_text.setAttribute("dominant-baseline","text-before-edge");
upper_text.setAttribute("class","oj-gantt-row-label");
upper_text.setAttribute("font-size","14px");
upper_text.setAttribute("text-anchor","end");
upper_text.setAttribute("x","220");
upper_text.setAttribute("y","5");
lower_text.textContent = "World";
lower_text.setAttribute("dominant-baseline","text-before-edge");
lower_text.setAttribute("class","oj-gantt-row-label");
lower_text.setAttribute("font-size","14px");
lower_text.setAttribute("text-anchor","end");
lower_text.setAttribute("x","220");
lower_text.setAttribute("y","25");
icon_node.setAttribute("cx","240");
icon_node.setAttribute("cy","25");
icon_node.setAttribute("r","8");
icon_node.setAttribute("class","u-color-7");
row_axis_label_elem.appendChild(upper_text);
row_axis_label_elem.appendChild(lower_text);
row_axis_label_elem.appendChild(icon_node);
return row_axis_label_elem;
}
Also you need to set the renderer of the row-axis-label. I also made the rows and task a little bit bigger to have enough space for two lines of text in the label. Add this in the "JavaScript Initialization Code" in the attriutes of you chart:
function( options ){
options.rowAxis.label = {renderer : custom_row_axis_label_renderer};
options.rowDefaults = {height : 60};
options.taskDefaults = {height: 40};
return options;
}
I have created a pretty good ChartJS system but am having trouble with breaking the extra x-axis labels and title font details. They same to want to be the same for some reason.
First of all, the solution I got help with is here:
SO answer
The charts look okay like so:
As you can see the title and addition x-axis label are both the same font size. This occurs due to the configuration options of:
// context.xAxes.font
context.font = this.config.get("chart.axis.font");
context.fontSize = 100;
context.fillStyle = this.config.get("chart.axis.font.color");
context.textAlign = 'center';
context.fillText(line, x, y);
I have the configuration options setup this way:
title: {
display: true,
fontSize: 10,
text: this.options.title,
padding: titlePadding,
},
I have no idea why the fillText is working for both title and extra categories.
As far as I know, there's no fontSize property on the canvas rendering context. You should use its font property instead to specify weight, size, and family of the font.
Please take a look at the runnable code snippet provided in this answer.
I am using bubble charts in angular-charts (its based on charts.js)
Users have to hover on bubbles to know their labels
How can I either show labels or turn on tooltips permanently in bubble chart
Premraj
You need to specify it within the options of Chartjs, specifically the callback part. I've given an example of what that looks like. Chart JS Documentation
vm.options = {
"callbacks": {
"label": function (tooltipItem, data) {
return data.datasets[tooltipItem.datasetIndex].label;
}
}
