Sorry for duplicating the thread (htaccess rewrite URL to append Google campaign tracking causing redirect loop) but the other one requires 50 points to post a comment which I don't have
I have this simple alias in my .htaccess
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /contact$
RewriteRule .* /content.php?id=17 [L]
and I'm using analytics tracking so need to add a QS like
?utm_source=somesource&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=somecode
to my alias.
I tried change it in .htaccess to the following but neither of them work:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /contact$
RewriteRule .* /content.php?id=17 [L,QSA]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /contact$
RewriteRule .* /content.php?id=17&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
How to catch the query string then?
Thank you
Replace all of your code with this:
RewriteRule ^contact/?$ content.php?id=17 [L,QSA,NC]

I need to handle one query parameter specifically.
The url can look like the following:
https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337
https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337&showoptions=true
https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337&showoptions=true&anotherparam=helloWorld
The redirect should point to
https://example.com/contextName/resources/apps/egov/index.html?map=1337
https://example.com/contextName/resources/apps/egov/index.html?map=1337&showoptions=true
https://example.com/contextName/resources/apps/egov/index.html?map=1337&anotherparam=helloWorld
As you can see, the app-Parameter needs to be used as an URL-part; the others need to be used like traditional query-params.
I've figured out, how to implement the first part, where https://example.com/?app=egov points to https://example.com/contextName/resources/apps/egov/index.html using the following
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/$
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^app\=(.+)
RewriteRule ^/$ "/contextName/resources/apps/%1/index.html" [R,L,QSA]
but I'm struggeling how to realize the correct handling of the other params.
All these combination of query string can be handled by a single rule loke this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^app=([\w-]+)(?:&(.*))?$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^$ contextName/resources/apps/%1/index.html?%2 [L]
RewriteCond matches app query parameter and captures it in %1 while rest of the query string after & is captured in %2.
With your shown samples, please try following htaccess Rules file. Please make sure to clear your browser cache before testing your URLs.
RewriteEngine ON
####Apache documentation link https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/rewrite/remapping.html for more info.
##Internal rewrite rule for URL https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^app=([^&]*)&map=(\d+)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^/?$ contextName/resources/apps/%1/index.html?map=%2 [L]
##Internal rewrite rule for URL https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337&showoptions=true
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^app=([^&]*)&map=(\d+)&showoptions=(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^/?$ contextName/resources/apps/%1/index.html?map=%2&showoptions=%3 [L]
##Internal rewrite rule for https://example.com/?app=egov&map=1337&showoptions=true&anotherparam=helloWorl
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^app=([^&]*)&map=(\d+)&showoptions=([^&]*)&anotherparam=(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^/?$ contextName/resources/apps/%1/index.html?map=%2&anotherparam=%4 [L]
All of your URLs uri part is NULL, so rules are written based on that.
I need using this .htaccess file. It only changes the URL from www.mydomain.com/users/user?usernam=myname123&profile=myprofile123&data=mydata123 to www.example.com/users/myname123/myprofile123/mydata123 .
i use
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^user\.php$ - [L]
RewriteRule ^([0-9a-zA-Z\-_.]*)/?$ /users/user.php?username=$1&profile=$2&data=$3[L,QSA]
htaccess in users folder
not work
With your shown samples, could you please try following rules. This will take anything in REQUEST_URI starting.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /([^/]*)/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/?\s
RewriteRule ^(.*) /%1?username=%2&profile=%3&data=%4 [NE,L,NC]
OR(either use above or following one) in case you want to match users in URI then run rules then try following.
RewriteEngine ON
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /users/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/?\s
RewriteRule ^(.*) /users?username=%1&profile=%2&data=%3 [NE,L,NC]
Explanation: Adding detailed explanation for above.
RewriteEngine ON: Enabling RewriteEngine here to enable mod rule writing.
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^$: Checking condition if query string is NULL then go further in rules.
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /users/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/([^/]*)/?\s: Matching regex in THE_REQUEST from /users to till spaces and capturing 3 groups values into back references to be used later.
RewriteRule ^(.*) /users?username=%1&profile=%2&data=%3 [NE,L,NC]: Using url rewrite to change URI to as per OP's request which has back references values in it.
I have a site at www.test.com. The site has many nested directories and categories such as www.test.com/cat/1/321/.
I want to use a Regex to remove any url ending in /321/ or /321 to the previous category.
Example: Redirect www.test.com/cat/1/321/ to www.test.com/cat/1/
Needed for a Wordpress site using .htaccess. Thanks!
You can write your conditions and rules for exam in this code we have to conditions for /321/ and /321
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /321/$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/321/$ /$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /321$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/321$ /$1 [R=301,L]
Simple enough
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*/)321/?$ $1 [R,L]
I have a blog that I recently migrated from it's original platform into a self-hosted WordPress site. The old platform appended a query string to URLs for mobile views. This doesn't have any connection in the new responsive site, so URLs with those query strings result in 404 errors.
What I need is a regex for my .htaccess that will strip off the query string ?m=1 from a URL. So, for example, "www.example.com/post/?m=1" should rewrite or redirect to "www.example.com/post/"
What I have so far is this:
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^m=1$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1? [R=301,L]
Which does absolutely nothing :)
Suggestions?
The problem is the trailing slash in /post/?m=1
#stip trailing slash
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^m=1$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1? [R=301,L]
My issue was one of syntax. The correct solution is here. Note the importance of placement when using this solution in a WordPress site.
I have two url's I'm trying to rewrite, for the past... 4-5 hours (headache now).
I am trying to rewrite
/arts/tag/?tag=keyword
to
/search/art?keywords=keyword
Looking at other questions I formulated my rewrite like this
RewriteRule /arts/tag/?tag=([^&]+) search/art?keywords=$1 [L,R=301,NC]
and
RewriteRule ^arts/tag/?tag=$ /search/art\?keywords=%1? [L,R=301,NC]
I tried with backslashes and without, no luck.
Also tried
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} /arts/tag/?tag=([^&]+) [NC]
RewriteRule .* /search/art\?keywords=%1? [L,R=301,NC]
The second one is similar,
/arts/category?id=1&sortby=views&featured=1
to
/art/moved?id=1&rearrange=view
The reason I change the get variable name is for my own learning purpose as I haven't found any tutorials for my purpose. I also changed category to moved since the categories have changed and I have to internally redirect some ID #'s.
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} id=([^&]+) [NC] // I need the path in there though, not just query string, since I'll be redirecting /blogs/category and /art/category to different places.
RewriteRule .* /art/moved/id=%1? [L,R=301,NC]
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
Assuming the queries in the original URLs have nothing in common with those in the substitution URLs, maybe this will do what you want, using the first keyin the query as a condition and to identify the incoming URL:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
# First case
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} \btag\b
RewriteRule .* http://example.com/search/art?keywords=keyword? [L]
Will map this:
http://example.com/arts/tag/?tag=keyword
To this:
http://example.com/search/art?keywords=keyword
# Second case
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} \bid\b
RewriteRule .* http://example.com/art/moved?id=1&rearrange=view? [L]
Will map this:
http://example.com/arts/category?id=1&sortby=views&featured=1
To this:
http://example.com/art/moved?id=1&rearrange=view
Both are mapped silently. If the new URL is to be shown in the browser's address bar modify the flags like this [R,L]. Replace R with R=301 for a permanent redirect.
