Django giving user the ability to manage files/images - django

I need help understanding hot to go about giving my users the ability to upload and remove files in the same form.
Is there a demo some were i can find?
It seems a pretty redundant task but i cant find a documentation on that.
Not talking about admin.
Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by 'in the same form'. Do you want to upload a new file while marking a already uploaded file as to-be-deleted?
You could put a list of existing files as MultipleChoiceField underneath your FileField and delete whichever the user selected as part of your form processing.
There is also a whole lot of 3rd party packages which might suit your needs:
https://www.djangopackages.com/grids/g/file-managers/
Since I can't comment yet.
You probably want to solve it with ajax requests
[___newfile.txt___] [browse] [add] --POST--> /add
- File 1 [Trash] --GET--> /delete/1
- File 2 [Trash]
- File 3 [Trash]
- File 1 [Trash]

I've created a demo project to show how this works.
You can find it at https://github.com/trostik/djangoimagemanage
Hope it helps some one.
Cheers

Is there a way to override the content of notification email from a test case update in Kiwi TCMS?

Im trying to change the content of the notification email sent after a test case has been updated to better clarify what has been changed. As it is, the content is hard to read.
Went through the link below to configure the other notification content:
http://kiwitcms.org/blog/atodorov/2018/08/06/how-to-override-templates-for-kiwi-tcms/
The content of the notification email:

I managed to replicate the example (from the link) for post_case_delete, post_run_save, and user_registered but the dir(tcms/templates/email/) lacks one for test case updates.
EDIT: It seems that adding dir and txt files for the others will undo the changes made to confirm_registration.

The link you've posted shows how to override templates (HTML, email, any kind of templates). However what context (e.g. which variables) get passed down to the template is up to the backend functions rendering that particular template.
As it is, the content is hard to read.
We thought diff is a pretty universal format but if you have other suggestions the best way is to start with opening an issue with examples, maybe a POC pull request.
In this particular example change history is automatically generated so any change will likely affect everything which deals with history but we need to see examples to comment further.

This is unrelated to the original question. Again I will have to see what exactly you are doing to tell you if/where the mistake is. The template engine in Django is trying to use the first template with a given name it finds. The search directory path tells it where to look for these templates. If you are somehow obscuring the files from the blog post then the application will not be able to find them hence you are not seeing the overriden changes you expect to.
Also follow https://github.com/kiwitcms/Kiwi/issues/1076 (not directly related but in the same domain space).

Solr admin shows number of indexes(numDocs) to be greater than the number of files I processed

When I process 56 files with Solr it says, 'numDoc:74'. I have no clue as to why more indexes would exists than files processed, but one explanation I came up with is that the indexes of a couple of the processed files are too big, so they are split up into multiple indexes(I use rich content extraction on all processed files) . It was just a thought, so I don't want to take it as true right off the bat. Can anyone give an alternate explanation or confirm this one?
using Django + Haystack + Solr.
Many thanks
Your terminology is unfortunately is all incorrect but the troubleshooting process should be simple enough. Solr comes with admin console. Usually at http:// [ localhost or domain ]:8983/solr/ . Go there, find your collection in the drop-down (I am assuming Solr 4) and run the default query in the Query screen. That should give you all your documents and you can see what the extras are.
I suspect you may have some issues with your unique ids and/or reindexing. But with the small number of documents you can really just review what you are actually storing in Solr and figure out what is not correct.

linking to cfml code ala jsfiddle

ok so i'm working on a new version of cflive.net and one of the features is to link to code.
I am using jsfiddle.net as my inspiration for the new site.
Now with jsfiddle all the code runs in the client, so it is not a problem for other people to edit it.
But with CFML obviously the files need to be saved on the server first, which means the original file would get overwritten if anyone makes any changes, which is obviously going to be problematic as the original author may not want his files to get edited, so I am looking for some feedback/suggestions on what would be the best way to handle this.
My best idea so far is.
All files are stored in a unique folder using a JsessionID
e.g. anonymous files
/jsessionid/filename.cfm
or user files
/user/jsessionid/filename.cfm
the original author marks the files as editable or not. You must register and be logged in to have this control.
Files created anonymously (not logged in) can be edited as default.
If the file is editable then it can be edited, otherwise it gets duplicated for each new session.
Anonymous sessions get deleted if they have not been access for 90 days.
thoughts?

templating system with zf2?

we are planing to create a CMS with zf2 and doctrine orm .
actually we are concern about our cms templating
we want our system works with several templates and easily change between themes via admin
and creating a new templates should be easy for end-users developers
we want an advice or suggest for how to build templating system that :
there is a core module and there a lot sub modules with their own phtml
so where to store theme1 phtml and where to store theme2 phtmls ...
any suggest or advice please
thanks
I encourage you to take a look at Twig, its the best template engine I have seen so far :) It does take some time to learn Twig syntax, but its well worthy if you look at what you get :)
I cant yet write comments, so I wrote this as an answare.
Hope this helps. Trust me, the Twig is the way to go. Joust look at his documentation for more specific details how to use it!
EDIT:
The problem you are trying to solve has nothing to do with template engine. You can do that with any template engine. You can do it even with plain PHP if you want.
I built web application where users can register, get their own sub domain, and there they can build their webpage. Change theme, edit text, add pages. Simple CMS functionality.
The easiest way to do this is to have themes folder, where you would store themes, like this:
themes/
- themeBlue
- css/
- images/
- js/
- html or views/
- themeRose
...
Now this is where you would place all your themes, every theme has its own folder with images, css, js files...
And then you would have users, and every user would be able to choose and change theme.
That information would be stored in database. You need to store that user Jack is using themeBlue. You can do that as you want. You can event put this in users table like user_theme column.
Now when someone visits site, you first query database to see what theme is that user or creator of web using. And then you load all that files from current theme folder. And populate html files with data stored in database like in any other CMS.
This is the simplest implementation. You could for example, store css and html files in database :)
Hope this answers your question.
Good luck with that, I almost gone mad building my system :) I ended up with writing my own PHP MVC Framework joust to accomplish what I wanted.
if you activate another module in the application.config.php which has the same views and layouts (same folder structure and filenames) it's viewscripts and layouts will automatically be used when it's loaded after your core module.
so you could simply make your application.config.php dynamic to load the active template module which only contains the view folder. this would be a simple and effective solution without any other libraries.
additionally you can use an asset manager like assetic to also provide images, css etc. inside of your (template-)modules. (have a look at zf2-assetic-module, I wrote my own assetize-module based on assetic to fit my needs...)
Sina,
I do this in my Application->Module.php onBootstrap
$ss = $serviceManager->get('application_settings_service');
$settings = $ss->loadSettings();
$serviceManager->get('translator');
$templatePathResolver = $serviceManager->get('Zend\View\Resolver\TemplatePathStack');
$templatePathResolver->setPaths(array(__DIR__ . '/view/'.$settings['theme'])); // here is your skin name
$viewModel = $application->getMvcEvent()->getViewModel();
$viewModel->themeurl = 'theme/'.$settings['theme'].'/';
In this situation I have this structure in my view folder
view/
default/
application/
error/
layout/
zfcuser/
red/
application/
error/
layout/
zfcuser/
The $viewmodel above injects a variable into the layout for the themeurl in the public_html folder /theme/red/ with all assets for red
Access in layout.phtml -> themeurl;?> in a viewscript layout()->themeurl;?>
I am still working out my Dynamic Views. Right now I have a BaseController and all my ActionControllers extend it. It has a render() function that builds the required views but not sure its going to be scalable hoping to try some placeholder ideas.
application_settings_service is a Settings Service that gets settings for whatever domain was used to call the system and builds an array accessible via any service aware part of the site. Thats a whole different post and it may or may not rub MVC peeps the wrong way
I know your question is marked answered just thought I would share
Eric

Please advice the folder structure for Handling multiple sites in Django

alt text http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?387990357b.jpg
Please see the folder structure image in the above url mentioned please advice which structure would be best suited for better code managibility. If the above image is not gettign please use this url http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?387990357b.jpg
As far as automated deployment goes, It would appear to me that your second option would be better... that will allow you to "pick up" either site 1 or site 2 all at once and drop it anywhere you want.
I use virtualenv to manage multiple sites, which is basically an extension of the second option: each with their own code base and settings file and modules.
this looks good: http://www.mail-archive.com/django-users#googlegroups.com/msg75840.html
