i thought about making an Url shortener app. That's how the GUI looks like:
Now i have 2 "big" problems because i've never done such things so far.
The first one:
In order to see which checkbox(es) has(have) been checked i need to iterate through them all. How do i do that? because i just dragged&dropped them into my app. I know i should put them into a QListWidget or something like that but i don't know which one.
The second:
How do i submit the link from my app to these url shortener sites and get them back? I'm fairly new to such things. Could you point me to some good tutorials on how to do that? is there an app written in qt so i could look into it's code?
You should use QObject::findChildren()
QList<QCheckBox *> l_checkboxes = parentWidget.findChildren<QCheckBox *>();
where parentWidget is your dialog.
Also, as it performs the search recursively, i would put all checkboxes into a QFrame, QGroupBox, or similar, to reduce the search to such parent widget.
For the second part. It varies for each url shortener. I never worked with em, but, you prolly will have to either:
use the api
Make http post requests as if you were sending
the form from their respective pages.
You can start looking Qt HTTP requests on Google

i'm new in cakephp and I have started with version 3. I want to build a beautifull app and because I'm not good in design, I would really like to use a free template or buy one that I can use within cakephp.
So, I would really appreciate all your propositions and ideas or best practises. The easy way will be the best because I don't have a lot of time with this project. Thank you in advance.
If you don't have a lot of time like you mentioned, the easiest way to go ahead and get started is to paste a lot of the code in your default.ctp layout inside of src/Template/Layout/default.ctp.
You'll notice there are some lines of PHP already in there that are relevant to fetching blocks of css, meta tags, and other bits of code that could potentially exist throughout your project.
Find the main layout of the theme your trying to use - the one that will be consistent across most of the pages. That's the one you'll use for default.ctp. Compare what's already in default.ctp and make the comparable adjustments around the HTML in that document while keeping the important lines of PHP there as well.
For other important pages like a login or registration page, just create a new document for those, like 'login.ctp', then inside the function that loads the page (maybe 'login' inside of UsersController'), change the default layout with this line of code:
$this->viewBuilder()->layout('login'); // without the .ctp ending
This way you can create one-off layouts that don't really match any other page.
I have been trying to use a textBrowser in order to display chat messages in my application. I've set the textBrowser with HTML enabled. I'm then appending each message to the textBrowser like so:
ui->textBrowser->append(QString().sprintf("<div style=\"border-bottom:1px solid #eeeeee; background-color:#ffffff;display:block;\"><font color=\"red\"> %s</font></div>",msg.toStdString().c_str()));
However, I am limited in what CSS i can apply to each appended element. For example;
- Border does not work
- Display block does not work
- etc.
I'm now fairly certain that the textBrowser just does not have the power that i need, I'm aiming in creating a chat message much like Skype is doing it.
What would be the best control to use for this purpose?
Some ideas I have so far:
- Use a scrollArea and append widgets inside of them
- Use a listView (not sure if its possible to style it the way i want)
Key elements i want to include in each chat message are:
- Time
- Avatar picture
- Name
- Text message
Any ideas what the best approach would be here?
Edit
Unfortunately i cant attach an image yet since I'm still new here.
I think you could simply use the WebKit (WebView) component. That will allow you to do anything you need and more. Styling and layout is done like a regular HTML/CSS page, then you can integrate it to the application backend via JavaScript.
Right now I am using one webview to show data from my aplicationDatadirectory, here everything is working fine, I get content when user click next back respectively. Now what I am doing is in onload of webview I register "touchevent" and "touchmove" in webview's html like this :-
$.webview.evalJS('document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].addEventListener("touchstart", function mytouch(){Ti.App.fireEvent("touch", {X:event.touches[0].pageX,Y:event.touches[0].pageY,length:event.touches.length});}, false);');
$.webview.evalJS('document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].addEventListener("touchmove", function mymove(){Ti.App.fireEvent("move", {X:event.touches[0].pageX,Y:event.touches[0].pageY,length:event.touches.length});}, false);');
on the basis of this I find swipe event. I get correct html in webview(I can see images). But I am unable to get touchstart and move call. I dont know what is the problem here. I set data in webview using url here.
Now when I set data in webview using html(I used data of my html file(given below) in one var) now I am unable to see images it just shows me one black border(empty) but here my touchstart and touchmove events are firing also my swipe is also working as expected. I am checking this functionality in iPhone.
Can any one find the issue what is going wrong here? Thanks.
I think that this depends on the time when you apply
$.webview.evalJS('document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].addEventListener("touchstart", function mytouch(){Ti.App.fireEvent("touch", {X:event.touches[0].pageX,Y:event.touches[0].pageY,length:event.touches.length});}, false);');
$.webview.evalJS('document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].addEventListener("touchmove", function mymove(){Ti.App.fireEvent("move", {X:event.touches[0].pageX,Y:event.touches[0].pageY,length:event.touches.length});}, false);');
If you use the html property data is loaded immediately and you can use the code exactly after setting html content. If you use the url (even if it is located locally, which might be difficult for android) then you need to wait a short time until the page is loaded. There is also an event listener for that (web view-event load) but i can't say if that works for local resources but i don't think so.
In this case you should apply your javascript snippet into your html resources (if they are locally) instead of manually adding it using evalJS.
Please note that there is an issue on android that you can't use local images (resources folder) in your webview when you provide the content via html property.
I made it swipe working in iOS(in android it was working).
I did not expect this thing to be a reason but I do not know logic behind it. I was accessing .xhtml files from application data directory and it was working without any issue in android but in iOS it was not.
I just change(rename in my code) .xhtml file to .html and now it is working. :)
Hope this can help someone who is looking for the same.(or just for his interest)
Thanks.
I have a like button on my site, i have defined all the og: meta tags and its works for most of most pages, but doesnt for 2 other pages. Its using a template so its exactly the same code, how can it work for some but not all pages?
For the pages it doesnt work, it doesnt pick up the title, image, link or description, basically any of the meta tags information.
Working like button....

Not working Like button

Any ideas?
One usual problem is caching. If you were testing and at some point had the wrong data in the metatags facebook will cache that info.
One simple wat to test if it is a caching issue is to add a random param at the end of the URL.
so www.yourpage.com/index.php?cacheBust=1
Running the Facebook Debugger often clears those kind of things up. It appears to refresh the FB cache when you do.
That's my first question in here, I've been looking through old questions, but nothing matched with my problem. Here it is.
I'm creating some site with one main functionality. We want this site to display content of other sites, but in a specific way. User chooses let's say two pages from five and want to see their content. He clicks button 'Display' and goes to next page where he finds let's say view from web cam, and here comes problem.
I want to cache image that is hidden behind the url from which image was downloaded, so after refresh image won't be downloaded again, but browser will get it from cache.
I've been looking through documentation of Django, but nothing seemed to be useful.
I know that I should:
1) create table which stores cache
2) add to settings.py some CACHE_BACKEND = ...
3) use #cache_page(300) before declaration of function which returns content which should be cached,
but... it doesn't seem to work.
I will be greateful if someone tells how to solve that problem, maybe with some sort of code showing the mechanism.
Cheers,
Chris.
I think that right way to do this will be to store image somewhere on your server and delete it later with cron or something similar.
Django cache framework wasn't created for the purpose you are trying to use it.
