I have developed the python script for checking out a source code from repository and build it using visual studio.When i run the script,a GUI opens(developed using wxPython) which shows a button,clicking on which does the checkout and build.I would want to show a progress bar showing the process running when i click on the button and a success message after the script finishes it's work.Please help me out.

You probably won't be able to get an accurate progress unless your build scripts are generating some progress information in the output that you can parse and represent in your GUI. Either way you will probably want to use wx.ProgressDialog or use a wx.Gauge in your main panel or something like that. Both wx.ProgressDialog and wx.Gauge can be used in a mode that shows actual values (a percentage complete) or an 'indeterminate' mode that represents that something is happening but there isn't any way to tell how far in the process it is.

There is no documented way to access the search results that Automatic Updates is using (the results that the Windows Update page in Settings displays).
However, there are two things that might be of use to you:
You can use IAutomaticUpdatesResults::LastInstallationSuccessDate to immediately see the last time the computer installed updates successfully. If all you want to know is "Is this PC processing updates successfully?", then this may be all you need.
You can use a Windows Update API search to see what updates are needed. Here's a script you can use as a starting point. If you use this script as written, it will go online to find newly-released updates, which isn't what you want in your scenario. But you can set your IUpdateSearcher object's Online property to false before calling Search. Doing that will perform an offline scan, in which WU just re-evaluates the updates it already knows about. This will work offline and will also return faster results.
"COM API
The COM API is a good way to directly access Windows Update without having to parse logs. Applications of this API range from finding available updates on the computer to installing and uninstalling updates.
You could use the Microsoft.Update.Session class to run an update search and then count the number of updates available to see if there are any updates for the computer.

I'm hoping someone can help me out.
I often find myself wanting to print figures in separate windows in iPython Notebook and within my browser when writing code and analysing figures, but keep running into a problem.
I noticed that if I add "%matplotlib inline" to my code somewhere to print the plots in the browser, but then remove it, the code continues to print the plot in the browser and not open in a new window. The only way around this I find is to just close the notebook and reopen it entirely from the command line.
Does anyone know of a simple "%" argument to place in the code that will reset it so that it prints plots to separate windows?
Just removing %matplotlib inline will not remove the effect the command had - which is in effect until the kernel is restarted (through notebook's menu) or until another gui is explicitly called (like %matplotlib qt or another one depending on your environment). See more in the docs.
I'm new to Xcode (and Macs in general) and am trying to port some of my code base over to run on both OS X and iOS. I have a large set of unit tests written against the Google C++ Testing Framework (Google Test). I successfully compiled the framework and I can run some tests, but I'm unsure how to view the colorized output from within Xcode.
I'm used to hitting "Run" in Visual Studio and immediately seeing a console window (with colors) letting me know at a glance if the tests passed or failed.
I've managed to set up a "Run Script" "Build Phase" but that seems to only output to the Log Navigator which obliterates the colors and even the fixed-width output making it very difficult to see at a glance if the tests pass. I also can't find a way to display the log after running the tests. When I do this nothing appears in the "All Output" window.
I've played around with XcodeColors but that doesn't seem to work with scripts that use the ANSI color codes.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if this simply can't be done within Xcode. That would be ideal, but if it isn't, is it possible to create a "Run Script" that will run the tests in an independent Terminal window? Colors work fine there.

Here are links to a tool that colorizes the text in the Log window. It's free and the source is in github so you can figure out how it works. The first link says that it just uses simple ANSI codes to do the job.

To kick off the execution from within Xcode, you will probably need to add a new target to your project. To add a Target, click on your project and then there is an Add Target button on the bottom of the screen. I don't know exactly what you're executing but here are my best guesses based on your question:
MacOSX/Application/Cocoa-AppleScript or Command Line Tool - Create a simple script or program that will execute your units tests.
MacOSX/Other/External Build System - Allows for execution of an external "make" program with args.
Once you have a way to execute your unit tests, you just need to figure out how to route the output from the unit tests to the Log window. If you can edit the Google Test project and make it use NSLog(), that would seem to be the easiest solution. You could create your own logging method, perform the ANSI colorization, and then send the final text to NSLog().
ADDED: OK. Interesting findings... Read all before starting. Here's what to do:
Start AppleScript Editor. This is in LaunchPad. Paste the following script into it:

do script "<your commands>" in window 1
end tell
You can repeat the "do script" line as needed. Use this to execute your unit tests. In Script Editor, do Save As.../File Format=Script and save it to a safe location for now like your Documents directory. This will create a file like "UnitTests.scpt".
Now go to your iOS project. Select the project at the top-left. Select the Build Phases tab top-middle. Click the Add Build Phase button on the bottom right. Here's the interesting part.
Leave Shell as is ("/bin/sh"). Add one line:
osascript ~/Documents/UnitTests.scpt
That will execute the script after every build.
But here's the interesting part I found. Click on Build Settings (top-middle). Make sure All is selected (not Basic). Scroll down the list to find Unit Testing. Open Test Host. Hit the + next to Debug. You can also put the above osascript command here. You might be able to execute your unit tests here and if you can, the output will likely show up in the Log! Let me know what happens.

I would create a Hello Word app, with JUnitTesting options turned on:
Include Unit Test checked
That will create a Test App / target whatever, and you will be able to run that.
The same thing it is at Android too: you have to create a "test project"
Once I did and forgot how is working, but, there are other stuff too:
- long press the Play button on Xcode ( 4.4 ) and you will have a dropdown menu with: Run, Test, Profile,Analyze.

IMHO: for banking, forex, other financial or military (high security software) I would use test driven development, with over 99% code coverage, but those simple 3-4 web-service call mobile apps, which display public data available in browsers are just waste of time to develop tests and upkeep it!

The GUI flow hard to test from unit testing, where is / would be usefully for me: the data got from web-service and synchronization with internal cache. As I see it is still cheaper to do it with manu testing.
I wish to use the functions of autohotkey within a C++ program.
I am currently running my scripts triggered by the c++ program- I just run them as a .bat file. This works well but the problem is that I cannot return values from the script to the c++ program.
I wish to be able to read the position of the mouse from the script and make decisions based upon this in my C++ program. My scripts do quite complex things- so doing this in autohotkey is the best solution for me- I have knowledge of C, but little of C++.
I have read about the Autohotkey .DLL - I know how to trigger it but not how to read values from it. If anyone could instruct me or even post example code of a .dll being loaded and a value sent to a script and a value returned- I would be eternally grateful!!

I'm not sure about the dll, but you could just write your own application in Autohotkey and package it along with your C++.
The communication takes place over a hidden window with an edit control and a button. You use one application to set text in the edit box, and then to click the submit button. The other application owns the window can process whatever is put into the edit control - as if you were passing a variable. Basically, that's it.

I'm looking to add an element to my wxWidgets GUI that behaves like a terminal emulator. Not in terms of a shell which executes commands, but just the input-output setup of an application running in a terminal.
Basically, the requirements are:
Streaming input/output: When you enter a character, it is added to an input stream, and when something is piped to the terminal, it prints out immediately.
No editing: Once you type in a character, it's permanently there, since it's probably been consumed by the application running in the terminal.
Some sort of scrolling (even if it just shows a few lines or something).
It would be nice if there is something that already does this, but suggestions on how to implement this with already existing controls such as wxTextCtrl would also be welcome.
I know this is a couple weeks late, but hopefully it's still useful. I've got a project called Chameleon that uses a wxWidgets-based VT100 terminal widget, which was itself based off of a project called taTelnet. The Chameleon source is available from my website (download page here). Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it might give you some ideas. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about it.
wxWidgets supports redirecting STDOUT to a wxTextCtrl via wxStreamToTextRedirector. As for input, you could override the OnChar event in a wxTextCtrl-derived class to handle this.
