Get fd or handle from socket object - c++

I want to create a native (c++) module for node.js which is able to send sockets to another node process, which is completely unrelated to the current process. To do so, I tought of using the ancillary library, which has a really, really easy API for this. The problem I have to solve now is how I can get the fd or the handle of a socket object of node.js.
There's a TCPWrap class in tcp_wrap.cc & tcp_wrap.h, which has a property called handle_, which holds a uv_tcp_t object from libuv, but that property is private. Also I can't #include because it's just a module of node.js an not directly in node.js itself. I don't know if it's a good idea to copy the source files to my module just to get the that class...
Have you any ides how I could do it?

I've just taken the headers "tcp_wrap.h","stream_wrap.h" and "handle_wrap.h" and then included "tcp_wrap.h".
I could then get the object the following way:

The following code then gives access to the file descriptor

How can I get the logging directory of a RollingFileAppender from log4cxx?

I'm using XML to configure log4cxx. The appender is a RollingFileAppender that outputs to a folder like yyyy/MM/dd/HHmm, and I need to know what that folder is at the end of the program.
I can't get the current yyyy/MM/dd/HHmm at runtime because that value will likely be different than it was when the log directory was created. After scanning log4cxx's documentation, I found only one function that was relevant:
log4cxx::FileAppender::getFile()
which returns the file that an appender is logging to.
The problem with that is that calls to log4cxx::Logger::getAppender() yield only AppenderPtrs- I could dynamic_cast this into a FileAppender if I know that's the ultimate type, but this introduces uncertainty into the program. Is there really no way to get the current log directory from log4cxx?

There is currently no(easy) way to get the name of the file that the RollingFileAppender is using.
Using Logger::getAppender() is the best way to get the correct appender that you are looking for. Since the appenders should all have unique names, there shouldn't be any issue with casting to the correct type. If you want to be safe about casting, use log4cxx::cast<FileAppender>( AppenderPtr ) which will return an invalid pointer if the object is unable to be casted to the correct type.

Can't find COM object from C++, although Guid it's registered

First of all happy new year to everyone, hope you're doing well!
I'm working on a C++ project in which I need to call a C# DLL I created following the first answer of this post. Once I have the DLL, I need to call it from Qt, so by using dumpcpp and the .tlb file generated by regasm, I managed to get the .cpp and .h files to use my classes. Just as a reference, the namespace of the classes is Wrapper, and the main class is Device with guid {DD4A4896-C105-4C60-839B-B18C99C8FE15}.
Once I have the generated files to use the DLL, if I try to create a Wrapper:: Device instance on Qt, I get the following error:

QAxBase::qt_metacall: Object is not initialized, or initialization failed
It doesn't give any more information, so I tried to check if the guid was stored on the system registry (I used the regasm command explained on the previously quoted post, and It said that it was successful, but you never know). Opening Registry editor and searching for the Guid revealed that it's present at: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WOW6432Node\CLSID\{DD4A4896-C105-4C60-839B-B18C99C8FE15}, which, as far as I know, is the right route for these guids, and it points to the right DLL.
I though It may be due to some kind ActiveQt problem, and as the previously quoted post explained how to use that DLL from VS C++, I decided to give it a try, using this as an another reference. I've finished with this code, which is supposed to create an instance of my Device object

However, this doesn't work either, the createInstance method throws an exception of Class not registered and HR=80040154. Again, according to Registry editor, the class is registered, so I don't understand the error. I've also tried with devPtr.CreateInstance("Wrapper.Device"), devPtr.CreateInstance("Wrapper::Device") or `devPtr.CreateInstance("Wrapper::CLSID_Device") as the links I posted suggest, but in those cases I get another exception with HR=800401f3 and message Invalid class string.
It doesn't matter whether VS or Qt Creator are opened as administrator or not, I get the exact same error.
I have run out of ideas, and I really need to be able to use that DLL from Qt using the files generated by dumpcpp.
Does any one know what could be happening? It feels quite strange to me.
If your C++ application is 64-bit, that's the answer right there, because your C# component is 32-bit (or MSIL but registered to the 32-bit hive). In situations like these, a simple test using VBScript is always useful.
Write a simple VB Script (test.vbs)

Now, run this macro 2 ways: with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of VBScript:
32-bit > c:\windows\SysWow64\cscript.exe test.vbs
64-bit > c:\windows\system32\cscript.exe test.vbs
This is assuming your C# component is dispatch compatible. If it's not, then it will still give you differing results that you can use to debug.
Assuming automation/IDispatch compatible, one will work and one won't if you have registered your component correctly.
Have you registered correctly? When I use regasm, I always use the the switches /tlb /codebase when registering the C# component for COM.
Ok, in case someone find the same error, I'll explain the solution I found.
The problem was that in my case, the C# class I developed depended on another 32 bits dll which was not registered on my PC. Once I registered the other dll, everything worked fine.
I don't know why VS kept telling me that the class was not registered when my class itselft was registered, it was one of its dependencies that wasn't registered.
Anyway, I discovered this thanks to Joseph's comments, so thanks a lot for your help.

How to correctly create a .gdns to instantiate it?

I have a gdnative library loaded in my godot. I can also call functions on it, that works. But I want to instantiate c++-Classes from it inside Godot.
I think I have to generate .gdns files for that to work, but i dont really find a example of that.
I created a .gdns script already with the New Script Dialogue. I named it exactly like the c++ class. And I set the Library in the scripts inspector and set ClassName to MyClass. But the following does not work as someClass is Null:

Im Using Godot 1.1 and compiled the gdnative-library with the appropriate Godot-cpp headers.
I created a .gdns file with the New Resource Dialogue and it worked then (after setting the library and Class-name of the .gdns in the Inspector).
I'll add more here when I found out why it didn't work before.

Directory.members().insert is not working using the Java client library

I have insert user and insert group working fine, but for some reason when I try to insert a member, it doesn't work. There is no exception thrown. Here is the code:

After "client.members().insert(myGroupId, member);" do you call execute ?

How to dynamically build a new protobuf from a set of already defined descriptors?

At my server, we receive Self Described Messages (as defined here... which btw wasn't all that easy as there aren't any 'good' examples of this in c++).
At this point I am having no issue creating messages from these self-described ones. I can take the FileDescriptorSet, go through each FileDescriptorProto, adding each to a DescriptorPool (using BuildFile, which also gives me every defined FileDescriptor).
From here I can create any of the messages which were defined in the FileDescriptorSet with a DynamicMessageFactory instanced with the DP and calling GetPrototype (which is very easy to do as our SelfDescribedMessage required the messages full_name() and thus we can call the FindMessageTypeByName method of the DP, giving us the properly encoded Message Prototype).
The question is how can I take each already defined Descriptor or message and dynamically BUILD a 'master' message that contains all of the defined messages as nested messages. This would primarily be used for saving the current state of the messages. Currently we're handling this by just instancing a type of each message in the server(to keep a central state across different programs). But when we want to 'save off' the current state, we're forced to stream them to disk as defined here. They're streamed one message at a time (with a size prefix). We'd like to have ONE message (one to rule them all) instead of the steady stream of separate messages. This can be used for other things once it is worked out (network based shared state with optimized and easy serialization)
Since we already have the cross-linked and defined Descriptors, one would think there would be an easy way to build 'new' messages from those already defined ones. So far the solution has alluded us. We've tried creating our own DescriptorProto and adding new fields of the type from our already defined Descriptors but got lost (haven't deep dived into this one yet). We've also looked at possibly adding them as extensions (unknown at this time how to do so). Do we need to create our own DescriptorDatabase (also unknown at this time how to do so)?

I am attempting to dynamically build a Message from a set of already defined Messages. The set of already defined messages are created by using the "self-described" method explained(briefly) in the official c++ protobuf tutorial (i.e. these messages not available in compiled form). This newly defined message will need to be created at runtime.
Have tried using the straight Descriptors for each message and attempted to build a FileDescriptorProto. Have tried looking at the DatabaseDescriptor methods. Both with no luck. Currently attempting to add these defined messages as an extension to another message (even tho at compile time those defined messages, and their 'descriptor-set' were not classified as extending anything) which is where the example code starts.

I was able to solve this problem by dynamically creating a .proto file and loading it with an Importer.
The only requirement is for each client to either send across its proto file (only needed at init... not during full execution). The server then saves each proto file to a temp directory. An alternative if possible is to just point the server to a central location that holds all of the needed proto files.
This was done by first using a DiskSourceTree to map actual path locations to in program virtual ones. Then building the .proto file to import every proto file that was sent across AND define an optional field in a 'master message'.
After the master.proto has been saved to disk, i Import it with the Importer. Now using the Importers DescriptorPool and a DynamicMessageFactory, I'm able to reliably generate the whole message under one message. I will be putting an example of what I am describing up later on tonight or tomorrow.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to make this process better or how to do it different, please say so.
I will be leaving this question unanswered up until the bounty is about to expire just in case someone else has a better solution.
