Using virtualenv on Mac OS X - django

I'm trying to setup a Django environment on Mac OS X, but I'm getting an error when I try to create a virtual env. Does anyone have a tip for me?
UPDATE: I'm sorry for leaving out the error message. It boils down to:
Could not call install_name_tool -- you must have Apple's development tools installed

Well, the error message would be helpful, but when I recently setup a Django development environment on my Macbook Air, I found that I needed to download an install Xcode to get all the development tools I needed.
You can find Xcode in the Mac Store. It cost $4.99 when I downloaded it a few weeks ago. It is a huge download and took all night to get, but once I installed it I was able to use virtualenv.
You can check out my post on Getting Started with Virtualenv if you need help with that excellent package. Best of luck.

cherrypy 2.3.0 compatibale with Python 2.7.5?

How can I get cherrypy 2.3.0 to be compatible with Python 2.7.5? I am trying to run the Filelocker2 application. It is previously on an older server that is running centos 5. We created a new Centos 7 VM server, and are migrating Filelocker2 over to the new cent7 machine. However I am not able to find much info on this subject. I believe it must either be extremely simple so there isn't much documentation on it, or it's simply not possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Screenshot of the error message I receive when executing the python startup script for Filelocker2
FileLocker 2.6 requires CherryPy 3.2+.
But I'm not sure you really have FileLocker 2.6. There is no such code in lib.FileFieldStorage. You have to find out what versions you really have.

Set python workspace environment to Debian VM when on OSX in VS Code

I am experimenting with setting up Visual Studio Code as my Django IDE, however I'm having difficulty configuring my python workspace environment correctly, such that I can get intellisense for 3rd party modules (like Django) working.
My desktop is Mac OSX, but I run my actual Django environment in a Debian instance inside of virtual box, running on my Mac. I also run Debian in production. I use an NFS share my django project files and virtualenv files between Debian and OSX.
I tried following these instructions for configuring my interpreter, however if I set a custom path like:
/Users/myusername/.virtualenv/myenv/bin/python2.7
It won't work, because that's a debian binaries, not Mac OSX.
In PyCharm I believe there is a way to specify remote interpreters, even on different architectures. There's no way to do something like this in VS Code, right?
Pretty sure what I want is currently impossible. The good news is it's being worked on.

Step by Step install of wso2 EMM for Ubuntu

I've visited the wso2 website and the install instructions are very disjointed in that there is a lot of jumping around between pages. I've seen the following blog that seemed to streamline the instructions but it doesn't seem complete (plus it's out of date with the version it's installing) - https://maxmalm.se/blog/2014-06-17-installing-wso2-enterprise-mobility-manager-110
Has anyone seen step-by-step instructions on what needs to be done to completely setup wso2-EMM on a newly installed Ubuntu 14.04 virtual machine with just the O/S on it and none of the pre-reqs installed yet? The blog I mentioned above seems to give a lot of the necessary apt-get install bits but doesn't mention anything about a database (yet the wso2 has a whole section on installing and using a database).
Thank you.
To try out WSO2 EMM you will only need to have JDK 7 or 8 [1] installed as minimum to start off the server. WSO2 products are build to run with OOB database which is H2. So to get things started and play around, I suggest that you install java and then start the pack to get things going.
[1] https://docs.wso2.com/display/EMM201/Installing+on+Linux+or+OS+X
To getting started all you need is JDK installed in your machine and setting the Java related environment variables like PATH, JAVA_HOME. You might have to install the correct version of JDK for the particular version of the EMM.

Webserver not working on OSX Mavericks

I was running a webserver and also Coldfusion just fine until I upgraded to Mountain Lion, then it stopped working. I got it working again by turning everything back on that the upgrade disabled, but now I have upgraded to Mavericks nothing is working. I have followed all the steps in various web articles but it won't work. PHP is enabled, everything that was enabled before is set up, including virtual hosts, and all the folders are in the same place.
I get the error: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1. [or localhost, or any of my virtual hosts]
I've gone over everything time after time and I can't figure out why it won't work. I have started, stopped, restarted the webserver numerous times, it is set to start on bootup too. I couldn't even complete the Coldfusion install because I couldn't load the administrator in a browser.
What could the problem be? Where should I look?
This is not a complete answer, but this should help get things started
Try using the command line start. It will probably be complaining about Java 7 not being installed. I recently needed to install Java 7 JDK (not JRE to get things running)
I know to get the rest of it running, I need to point ColdFusion at the proper JVM. You can find the JVM settings at /Applications/ColdFusion10/cfusion/bin/jvm.xml. You should have some setting like
# VM configuration
#
# Where to find JVM, if {java.home}/jre exists then that JVM is used
# if not then it must be the path to the JRE itself
java.home=/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home
application.home=/Applications/ColdFusion10/cfusion
When you install Java 7, the JRE is at
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_45.jdk/Contents/Home/jre
Backup, and edit the jvm.config file to
#
# VM configuration
#
# Where to find JVM, if {java.home}/jre exists then that JVM is used
# if not then it must be the path to the JRE itself
java.home=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_45.jdk/Contents/Home/jre
# java.home=/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home
application.home=/Applications/ColdFusion10/cfusion
If all goes well, you should be able to start ColdFusion
Some additional help
Installing Java on OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)
When you install Java 7
Just saw this thread. ColdFusion 10 is now supported on OS X 10.9 Maverick with the release of CF10 Update 13.
This should work for you now.

Problems installing django-1.0.2 on Windows XP

I'm a Windows user. I tried to install django-1.0.2 final through the command prompt and it kept giving me an error in line 70:
The error occured where u"SVN"... It couldn't get past that line.
What to do in order to be able to install django-1.0.2?
You do not have SubVersion installed on your machine. You are trying to synchronize from the current production stream via SubVersion, which is a source control system, which you do not have installed.
Easiest solution - download the latest official version per the instructions at http://www.djangoproject.com/download/
Please install a client for the Subversion Version Control System. Since you are on Windows, you can also use TortoiseSVN which is an easy to use SVN client for Windows.
Alternately, you can download the tarball of Django 1.0.2 directly.
And please don't SHOUT on Internet forums. We hear you :)
If I recall correctly, installing TortoiseSVN won't help you there cause Django's code tries to use SVN's command line version.
Install a command-line SVN like:
Slik SVN
CollabNet SVN Command line
What version of python are you using? I had the same error when installing on top of python 3.2 instead of 2.7. Django only works with 2.7.
