I've been working on a project that will need a notifier in the system tray (sorry, "System Notification Area"). It will be a simple app that just generates popup notifications when it receives a message via a Zeromq socket.
I am not having any luck finding anything other than .NET resources and examples. Does anyone have a sample in C/C++?
I would start with this section of MSDN: Notifications and the Notification Area.
Then I'd check the NotificationIcon Sample in the Windows SDK.
What framework are you using? There should probably be several implementations for MFC, but there might different implementation for WTL and other frameworks. If you want to use the Windows API with no object orientation - well, you won't need any wrapper library then, but you can look at these libraries for example.

What you want here is probably ShowBalloon() function, which shows a balloon notification, but I'm pretty sure you must create a tray icon for that (can't have a notification balloon without having a tray icon).

I have recently migrated a project of mine to WebView2 and the last part I can't figure out is how to intercept the Windows Messages for the webview. My code is very similar to webview/webview but I was unable to find help on their GitHub.
Previously, I was able to find the hWnd for the webview and use SetWindowSubclass to add my own wndproc to the webview. However, I've used Spy++ and tried SetWindowSubclass on all the windows that showed up there (see below) but none of them had any windows messages in my wndproc other than some window management ones I did not think were useful - The best I got was WM_PARENTYNOTIFY, but I am interested in WM_MOUSEMOVE and WM_NCHITTEST - neither of which I could find.
My goal is to create a borderless, draggable, resizeable WebView2 based app.
The problem is, that the real window that controls and gets all this input is in another process. You just see a window that shows the output in your process.
Look into Spy++. Everything below Chrome_WidgetWin_0 belongs to a new process (MSEDGEWEBVIEW2) and is not part of your process. So you can't subclass such a window with the normal techniques.
So if you want to subclass this window. You need to inject a new DLL into this new process. This DLL might subclass the real window. And this DLL might communicate with you hosting program via any IPC.
I have this program, it is apparently coded in C++, and I can see that the window(dialog box) is a native one, but in the middle of the window, it has modern looking UI elements, and when I right click on the client area(with modern UI elements) it shows a context menu like a web browser does(with almost same items as Internet Explorer).
There is also a newer version of this program, apparently it has coded same as before but the content in the web browser like area is now coded in Silverlight.
So according to my understanding this is a just a native window with an HTML web page in the client area, which allows to take advantage of CSS designing.
I would love to know how such a program be developed C++ and how does event handling is done in such a system.
Any help is much appreciated.

Basically you do this by embedding a web browser control into your application. Microsoft directly provides such a control or you can use 3rd party alternatives.
In WinForms you can add a WebBrowser control like any other common
control, see here. You can also include the same control in a
WPF application.
The above .Net WebBrowser control emulates IE7 by default (I believe) even if
the user has a newer version of IE installed. You can make it
use a newer version as shown in various online resources. A better option is however, to not use IE or the
WinForms WebBrowser control at all. Consider CefSharp. "Cef"
stands for Chromium embedded framework, which is a native library. CefSharp is a C# wrapper
around CEF.
If you are not using C#, in a native Win32 application you can just
embed CEF. Or you can embed Microsoft's IE-based control
as, essentially, a COM object, but I would recommend the
former in this case. This is exactly what CEF is for.
Qt is cross platform c++ Gui Library.Code once and compile for different Platform. Let's for instance, I have compiled a Project(decent text editor with few tool bar) or any such program for Windows(x86).
Statement 1: The Program.exe entry point will be WinMain.
Statement 2: The Text editor and tool bar will created using "CreateWindow" win32 api. Qt have its own class to implement but to ask OS(Windows) for creating a tool bar or text editor, Program exe interface with OS(Windows). OS understand what it know it does not know anything about Qt class,so to create tool bar or text editor program have to use win32 api.

Correct. The WinMain implementation is provided by the Qt library.
Half correct. The top-level windows are created using CreateWindow. Child widgets, such as a non-toplevel toolbar are Qt's own widgets and are opaque outside of your application. They are exposed only via the accessibility APIs. This allows you to create more widgets than Windows would be able to deal with. A million child widgets is doable, if not particularly fast.
Correct - there's no other way. Of course Qt immediately translates native messages into QEvent instances and dispatches them internally to various QObject instances. In Qt-land, all events must be received by a QObject instance.
You're incorrect in your assertion that winapi has anything to do with the kernel. Winapi is implemented by a bunch of user-space DLLs. You could implement those DLLs yourself. Those DLLs themselves call into the kernel using the native api. That's the API actually exposed by the kernel to the user space.
I have a problem. I am using C++ to develop an application in Win32 that among other scopes automatize some user input process in an external app in order for the user to be ready to operate.
Particularly I would like to use Win32 API to fill some text in a Qt QWidget control. I wrote a DLL in pure C to get this task done. I tested it on a MFC application and it works very well.
Anyway I could not get it to work for Qt QWidget controls.
I was able to get the right handle via the EnumChildWindows function (stored in the struct Field).
SendMessage(Field.hFound,WM_SETTEXT,(WPARAM)NULL,(LPARAM)_T("bla bla bla"));
But the SendMessage doesn't seem to work because maybe the control (most probably a QLineedit) supports other messages to get this job done.
Is there any specification for these events, I googled a lot but I could not find anything suitable.
What is the most straightforward way to get this code working? Is there an Event table mapping for Qt I could use? Do I have to use some Qt headers and link it against a DLL (this could be a problem because of licensing)?

Qt, at least 4.8 and 5.x, uses foreign controls. None of the widgets, beyond the window, have native handles. Your EnumChildWindows is most likely not finding what you think it's finding.
If you don't have access to the Qt application's source code, there's nothing else you can do, short of injecting your own code into the running application. If the application is dynamically linked, you can figure out what version of Qt it's using, and what compiler it was compiled with, and the likely set of Qt configuration options. You can then compile your own code with the same compiler and using same Qt version, and inject it into the running application. You can then enumerate visible windows, and their children, and find the control you're after.
The only way I know to launch a windows application is through CreateWindow. Unfortunately, there is not a window style for a taskbar application, and I was wondering how to make a one. I did find this explanation in C#, but I am looking for a solution able to be compiled with VC++ 2008. Any solutions?
The key is Shell_NotifyIcon (as other users suggested).
In a standard scenario your application should have at least one window (at least to receive system tray notification messages). Possibly hidden. On right-click on your tray icon it's a good tone to display a sort of a popoup menu.
I think you may look at this. This simple program demonstrates how to use the system tray in a very minimalistic way.
