cdata in xslt for html - xslt

I have an XSLT file generating plain HTML. I need to wrap some elements in CDATA blocks, so intend to use cdata-section-elements. But, if the element I want to have contain CDATA is only one <p> on the page, how do I get it to not put CDATA in all the other <p> elements?
The input data is this:
<item>
...
<g:category>Gifts under &pound;10</g:category>
</item>
My XSL is:

Well assuming you have some way of targeting the <p> tag that you want to enclose in CDATA section, you could do something like:

With XSLT 2.0, I am trying to create a list of relations between all children of given elements, in a document such as:

The idea here is to remove duplicates in the first pass, then enumerate all combinations in the second (final) pass. The weight is computed by multiplying the number of occurrences of each member of a combination pair and shown only when it exceeds 1.
At least the combinatoric part of your problem could be solved with the following XSLT script. It does not solve the elimination of duplicates, but that could possibly be done in a second transformation.

Which seems about correct. If have no idea if the duplicate elimination (or weighting, as you call it) could be done in the same transformation.

Rename a batch of values with xslt

We have a program that uses xml to save configurations of our program. Someone decided to rename a couple of values in our database and these renames should now also be backwards compatible in the configurations of our customers.
An example of a configuration

A simple match would be (not tested, just an example):

So even if I think there is more complexity behind the curtain, may be this will help a little bit.
There are some possibilities to do this with xlst. Which would be best in long term depends on complexity in real life and how often you need to do this with different "mapping" information.
For your easy example you can put the "mapping" information into a xml file. This could be done by some script form ini file.

XSLT removing unnecessary element

i am trying to write an xslt code that will check whether the description element exist or not if it exist then it will show the description element but if it does not exist then it should not show the description element.but my code below still show element although there is no value in it.how can we code it so that it wont show out the description element if there is no description for a services.

XSL hyperlink rewriting without recreating the element

I worked out an XSL template that rewrites all hyperlinks on an HTML page, containing a certain substring in the href attribute. It looks like this:

I'm not liking the fact that I must recreate the A element from scratch. I know you can do something like this:

But how should I merge these two together? I tried f.e. this and it doesn't work (the element does not get selected):

First: If you declare a rule for matching an attribute, then you must take care of apply templates to those attributes, because there is no built-in rule doing that and apply templates without select is the same as apply-templates select="node()".

Using XSLT, how do I separate nodes based on their value?

I have a pretty flat XML structure that I need to reorder into categorised sections and, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it in XSLT (not that I'm by any means an expert.)
Basically, the original XML looks kinda like:

<value>one</value>
<type>a</type>
</thing>
<thing>
<value>two</value>
<type>b</type>
</thing>
<thing>
<value>thee</value>
<type>b</type>
</thing>
<thing>
<value>four</value>
<type>a</type>
</thing>

<type>d</type>
</thing>
</things>
And I need to output something like:

<a-things>
<a>one</a>
<a>four</a>
</a-things>

Note that I can't output <c-things> if there aren't any <c> elements, but I do know ahead of time what the complete list of types is, and it's fairly short so handcoding templates for each type is definitely possible. It feels like I could probably hack something together using <xsl:if> and <xsl:for-each> but it also feels like there must be a more ... 'templatey' way to do it. Can anyone help?

In XSLT 1.0 you can group with keys. This approach is called Muenchian Grouping.
The xsl:key defines an index containing thing elements, grouped by the string value of their type element. Function key() returns all nodes from the key with the specified value.
The outer xsl:for-each selects the thing elements that are the first returned by key() for their value.

My solution does use an <xsl:if>, but I can't see how it couldn't now I think about it. My solution looks basically like:
