Seemingly a simple enough question, but I cannot work it out.
I want to hide a CEikLabel at a certain point. I want a function like..
myLabel->SetVisible(EFalse);
or..
myLabel->RemoveFromView();
I realise I could just use myLabel->SetTextL(_L("")); but that is not what I want to do.

I want to develop an auditing application for certain Windows applications. I want to grab the text from MessageBoxes, Windows, Forms, Selections etc and ideally I would like to program in C++.
I've looked into Windows UI Automation as a possible solution, but am slightly put off as it says it will need to know parts of the underlying data structures which I can't get at. Alternatively, I've looked around and Neo's SafeKeys says that it protects against 'field scraping', but upon searching for it I can't find any information on how it is done. Could someone with experience with this please enlighten me? I'm aware you can scrape websites and the like, but I wish to scrape applications instead.

I presume they are talking about doing a lot of EnumChildWindows() and GetWindowText().
A simple way of doing this without going near any data structures is to use Abbyy's OCR SDK http://www.abbyy.com/ocr_sdk/ to emulate in an application what their amazing Screenshot reader does. http://www.abbyy.com/screenshot_reader/ . With this technology, nothing you can read on the screen is safe from being captured as text, though it makes a mess of the odd character occasionally.
I'm working on an application using OpenGL and C++ that parses some structured input from a file and displays it graphically. I'd like to start an Open File dialog when the application loads to allow the user to choose the file they want to have displayed. I haven't been able to find what I need on the web. Is there a way to achieve this in C++? If so, how? Thank you in advance.
You have two choices, a quick one, and a good one:
Quick and pretty simple, use the Navigation Services framework from Carbon and NavCreateGetFileDialog(). You'll be done quick, and you'll have to learn almost nothing new, but your code won't run in 64-bit (which Apple is pushing everyone towards) and you'll have to link the Carbon framework. Navigation Services is officially removed in 64-bit, and is generally deprecated going forward (though I expect it to linger in 32-bit for quite a while).
A little more work the first time you do it (because you need to learn some Objective-C), but much more powerful and fully supported, wrap up NSOpenPanel in an Objective-C++ class and expose that to your C++. This is my Wrapping C++ pattern, just backwards. If you go this way and have trouble, drop a note and I'll try to speed up posting a blog entry on it.

Unfortunately, there's no simple equivalent to Windows's GetOpenFileName.
If you use Carbon: I don't really think NavCreatGetFileDialog is easy to use... you can use this code in the CarbonDev to see how to use it. The code there returns CFURLRef. To get the POSIX path, use CFURLGetFileSystemReprestnation.
That said, I recommend you to use Cocoa. Rob will write a blog post how to use NSOpenPanel from GLUT :)
In Windows XP if you click Start, Run (or Windows-key + R) you get a little dialog for running things directly. If you start typing, a resizable scroll-list pops up underneath the edit-box.
I want something similar, so when a user is typing in a name to an edit-box, a list will suddenly appear if suggestions can be made. But I don't know if I need to write it all myself, or can use some existing controls/code from somewhere.

You'll have to create it yourself, IMHO. However if you google 'autosuggest textbox', you should find some examples on how to do it.
The examples might not be in in MFC though, but I'm sure they can help you along.

I am seeing many many different use cases where I could use Markdown in apps that I write, both personal and professional. But from my research so far, I haven't been able to find many options for working with it in ColdFusion. I would certainly like to keep from reinventing the wheel by trying to implement it myself if someone else already has a project that I can use and contribute to, both because of time and not to duplicate efforts.
My preference would be to use an implementation in native coldfusion because that would be the easiest to tweak if it was necessary, but I am open to alternatives in other languages, as long as it is easy enough to implement and maintain. I have looked at the WMD editor, but it doesn't look like it is the whole solution. It would work for outputing the markup, but I would want to store that and then convert it to html as necessary for display.
Does anyone know of any other options?
Update: I do know of the CFX_markdown but I am not sure it is mature enough. If anyone out there has experience with it I would love to hear about it.
Update 2: I have added a bounty to this question. Not to say that the answer that has been given so far isn't a good one or isn't the best one, but I am wanting to see if anyone else has any other information about markdown with CF so we know all of the options.

The Markdown Wiki refers to a Java implementation called MarkdownJ. I've no idea how mature it is, and I know you'd prefer a native ColdFusion implementation, but if you're running ColdfusionMX then a Java module might be a good compromise.

What is best way for making a draw panel in a web page. I would like to know how to develop something very simple,for example little panel where users can draw a signature.

Whilst Zifre's answer is valid in one sense, I would be very weary of the <canvas> tag, at least at the moment, due to there not being fantastic support for it (as many browsers don't yet fully support HTML5).
Some browsers support it (most notably Firefox and anything running on Webkit), but swathes of others don't (especially older browsers). It's perhaps better to go for a more universal solution (though, by no means completely universal), and use something like Flash.
The easiest way to do this is probably with the <canvas> tag and some JavaScript. Here is a really simple example to get you started. You can add more functions for things like circles, boxes, etc.
I'm sure somebody has already made something like this that you could use, but I couldn't find any.
