I am trying to install Saleor Dashboard 2.0 on my Windows 10 machine for a dev environment.
So far I have
git cloned the git clone dashboard into the same folder as the Saleor project
Then cd saleor/dashboard and ran npm i
The instructions were not really clear on how to configure the API_URI to http://localhost:8000/graphql/. It is not in the settings.py and the instructions were not clear on where this is.
Setting environment variable on Windows somehow didn't work for me.
I changed the value of below variable in src/config.ts and it worked !!
export const API_URI = "http://127.0.0.1:8000/graphql/";
But ideally it should work by setting system environment variable.
Please fill free to update here if anyone is able to run it with system env variable (without changing the code).
Thanks!!
try the following command in the command line.(this will not work in powershell)
set API_URI = "http://localhost:8000/graphql/"

I'm trying to set up a work environment on a new machine and I am a bit confused how best to procede.
I've set up a new windows machine and have WSL2 set-up; I plan on using that with VS Code for my development environment.
I have a previous django project that I want to continue working on stored in a folder in a thumb drive.
Do I move the [windows] project folder into the linux folder system and everything is magically ready to go?
Will my previous virtual environment in the existing folder still work or do I need to start a new one?
Is it better to just start a new folder via linux terminal and pull the project from github?
I haven't installed pip, python, or django on the windows OR linux side just yet either.
Any other things to look out for while setting this up would be really appreciated. I'm trying to avoid headaches later by getting it all set-up correctly now!
I would pull it from github, and make sure you have the correct settings for line endings, since they are different between windows and linux. Just let git manage these though:
https://docs.github.com/en/get-started/getting-started-with-git/configuring-git-to-handle-line-endings
Some other suggestions:
Use a version manager in linux to manage your python versions - something like pyenv or asdf. It will make life easier.
Make sure to always create a virtual environment for everything and don't pip install anything in your main python. (I use direnv for virtual env management)
The single exception to the previous suggestion is pipx, which I do install in the main python and then use to install things like cli tools, black, isort, pip-tools etc.
Configure VScode to use the pipx installed versions of black, flake8 etc. for linting purposes.
If you're using Docker, enable the WSL integration for your WSL flavour (probably Ubuntu). Note that docker desktop needs starting before your WSL session.
I am using on a 64-bit system running Windows 11 with Python 3.7 installed and working in a virtual environment where I have installed Django 3.2. I am trying to deploy my project using Heroku.
I have tried adding heroku cli 64-bit Windows version to various paths. I have set the env variable HOME with a value of C:/Users/<username>/_netrc. I have cleaned up the path on each installation so there is only the current path.
When I run heroku login from within my project, I get the following error:
EPERM: operation not permitted, open C:/Users/<username>/_netrc
Any help here is appreciated
I have set the env variable HOME with a value of C:/Users/<username>/_netrc
HOME should be a directory. Heroku will take care of the _netrc part.
Try setting it to C:/Users/<username>/ instead.
delete the existing file in path C:/User//_netrc
used git bash or terminal for it as i was unable to find the _netrc file in file Explorer.
after deleting It run the below command in project folder.
heroku git:remote -a <heroku_app_name>
by running the above command it will create a new _netrc file
I need to add WSL node interpreter to WebStorm (2020.1) but Linux distribution is not detected by WebStorm, even though I have Alpine WSL install through Windows Store.
I read this question, but no help. Also manually adding entry in wsl.distributions.xml didn't work, did a lot of research but nothing worked.
I was able to use WSL as terminal in WebStorm by adding wsl.exe location to shell path. My objective is to run npm scripts form from Run/Debug configuration.
I solved by reinstalling WebStorm and copying options folder
from C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\JetBrains\WebStorm2020.1
to C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\JetBrains\WebStorm2020.1, then WebStorm could detect Linux distribution installed on machine.
But, now when I am trying to run scripts from NPM Tool Window of WebStorm, WebStorm runs C:\Windows\System32\wsl.exe run "/usr/local/bin/node /usr/local/lib/node_modules/npm/bin/npm-cli.js run start --scripts-prepend-node-path=auto" where run is redundant coming after C:\Windows\System32\wsl.exe ...
How can I set WebStorm to not have run in wsl.exe run ...?
I've been using DDEV & Docker-Desktop sucessfully to run installs of drupal8 on my windows 10 machine.
Today I decided to create a new install of Drupal8 (I last did this a month ago or so).
I followed the basic steps:
Create new folder (drupal8test)
Ran the ddev config command inside this folder.
accepted the defaults and choose drupal8
Amended config.yaml so the ports do not clash with others on my machine
Ran the command ddev start
I get a couple of alerts from docker desktop and I share folder's it needs
There are no errors and the URL is provided, on going there I get a 404 file cannot be found error
When I look in the drupal8test folder I see the following folders:
.ddev
drush
files
sites
(Expecting to see web).
Any ideas? (I'm quite new to Drupal and DDEV so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong)
Welcome to ddev and to Drupal, Mark!
ddev has never installed Drupal, it's a local development environment.
There are quickstarts for Drupal (all versions), TYPO3, Magento and Magento2, etc at https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/users/cli-usage/#quickstart-guides
For Drupal 8, you would follow the Drupal 8 Quickstart:
mkdir my-drupal8-site
cd my-drupal8-site
ddev config --project-type=drupal8 --docroot=web --create-docroot
ddev start
ddev composer create "drupal/recommended-project:^8"
ddev composer require drush/drush
ddev launch
I'm not sure I understand the command you showed
.ddev drush files sites
or what it was trying to accomplish, but after doing this install you can just ls and you'll see the web directory. If you're interested in running drush, you can ddev exec drush status for example, or just ddev ssh and use drush.
Anyway, the next time you get stuck, the docs are waiting for you at https://ddev.readthedocs.io/en/stable/ and there is also lots of community support available here and elsewhere.
so i have been developing a website with a backend database. The following is my current setup and it is working great:
Currently using Ubuntu 16.04
I created a virtualenv and downloaded Django and postgreSQL within the virtual environment.
I also downloaded and am using Python 3.5.2 within the virtual environment.
My entire folder structure is on GitHub so that I can edit the code on the go (Again, everything working fine on Ubuntu).
The problem comes when I want to start doing some editing on Windows 10 using Powershell. I am unsure of how to run the 'activate.sh', 'activate.csh', or 'activate.fish' file in order to run the virtual environment and initialize my server using 'python manage.py runserver' so I can start editing my website.
Has anyone run into the problem and found out how to fix this? Any help on how to get started working on Windows would be great.
If you need any more details id be glad to provide them.
Thanks!
Assuming that you have created a virtualenv on ubuntu without relocatable option. You will have to firstly create a new virtual environment on Windows because they have differences on OS variations. So navigate to the directory where you would like to create the new virtual environment on Windows and run the following command:-
virtualenv .
(Note the . specifies current directory option)
After this there will be three directories created in your directory namely
1) Include
2) Lib
3) Scripts
As now the activate.bat file is in Scripts you can activate your virtualenv by the following command:
Scripts\activate
After the environment is activated you can pip install -r requirements.txt and then run your manage.py script as usual.
For further reference you can read:-
