Linking a C library (tree-sitter) into a C++ project cmake issues - c++

I'm trying to get a C library called tree-sitter working with my C++ project.
This is what my project structure looks like:

After compiling that, I get this error:

The code that my program tries to run is this:

Compiling with CMake and Boost unit tests

I'm relatively new to C++, and I'm trying to compile a project using CMake with the following #include:

I get the following error
undefined symbols for architecture x86_64:

I'm on OSX Mojave, and installing with brew install boost. I'm aware there are several posts out there that report very similar issues, but none of the solutions seem to work for me.

Have tried edits and upgrading to boost 1.7, but still have:

You have to link properly to boost instead of adding include directory flags.
Linking libraries in cmake will apply all required property to use boost onto your targets.
First off, don't do that:

This is asking for link error. It will enable you to use headers of libraries you don't link properly to. This will cause linking errors, even within your own project.

Qt Creator Error: cannot find -lopencv_imgcodecs

I have installed opencv, qt, qt creator, cmake on ubuntu 15.10 through VMware on windows.
The opencv is installed in this directory: /home/majidalaeinia/opencv/
The project repository is cloned in this directory: /home/majidalaeinia/Desktop/imgwarp-opencv/
I want to run the project through its CMakeLists.txt in qt creator and when I press Build now on qt creator, I get the following errors:
error: cannot find -lopencv_imgcodecs
error: collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Where is the problem and how can I solve it?

The code in the repository is an old code and still carries Qt4 as main wrappers. I think you probably have Qt5 installed on your computer and in fact the code I provided it will work for Qt5. Use it as a guideline for the other CMakeLists.txt file present inside src folder and change accordingly.
CMake will compile but because it was used Qt4 you need to figure out the most important modules to add, for example the new standard for including QtGui/QApplication is usually substituted by QtWidgets/QApplication
I also wanted to leave my previous answer in case you need a starting point or a initial template. I hope this clarifies a bit more and can get you move forward for your project.

Build Application using libpam0g-dev with cmake

I'm trying to build a C++ application which uses the library libpamg0-dev.
I installed it with the following command on my elementaryOS VM.
apt-get install libpam0g-dev
When I try to compile the application, the compiler spits out the following errors:
undefined reference to `pam_start`
undefined reference to `pam_authenticate`
undefined reference to `pam_end`

Maybe one of you knows how to link the library in the right way.
I have found a nice solution with find_package option from CMake. CMake provides a way to find packages/libraries with specified FindModule.cmake file.
A really good news is that there are a lot of existing module files. You can use this version to find PAM package on Linux. Put it to cmake/modules/ in your project folder and update your CMakeLists.txt:

Linker error when compiling with Boost.Filesystem on macOS High Sierra

I'm currently trying to compile a program that uses Boost.Filesystem on macOS High Sierra 10.13.4. I'm also using gcc 7.3 to compile, which I manually installed using Homebrew. The program will compile, but then throws the following error during linking

I'm using the command cmake -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=$CC -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=$CXX . to generate the Makefile, and the environment variables $CC and $CXX are set to the versions of gcc and g++ created by Homebrew.
I've looked at several other stackoverflow answers where people have the same error, and all of those are the result of incorrect linking. I'm linking in the same way that the correct answers say to do, yet the error still persists. Am I still linking it incorrectly or is there something else going on here?
So I found out what was going on. This made me realized that maybe the bottled homebrew Boost 1.66.0 library wasn't built with GCC. I switched the compiler to clang, and now it compiles just fine.

I'm looking for the simplest way to compile a c++ program using SDL2 and SDL_image with cmake.

This made me check the contents of
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/sdl2.pc
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/SDL2_image.pc
I noticed that SDL2_image.pc contains
Name: SDL2_image
which I assumed should match the third parameter to PKG_SEARCH_MODULE for this library.

Basically you need a FindSDL2.cmake and FindSDL2_image.cmake module. They can be based of the ones that work for SDL 1.2 which are included in CMake already. Using these Find modules will also work on Windows.
If you are on Linux and only need SDL2 you don't even need the FindSDL2.cmake as the following already works:

I was having trouble with these answers, I think cmake changed the way to import targets. Following #trenki blog post I needed to change my CMakeLists.txt to:

Currently this works out of the box on Arch Linux.
I introduced a modern and portable approach for linking to the SDL2, SDL2_image. These SDL2 CMake modules let you build an SDL2 & SDL2_image project as follows :

Since 2.6 version, SDL2_image installation is shipped with CMake config script SDL2_imageConfig.cmake/SDL2_image-config.cmake.
So find_package(SDL2_image) works without any additional FindSDL2_image.cmake module, and creates IMPORTED target SDL2_image::SDL2_image:

Note, that variables like SDL2_IMAGE_LIBRARIES or SDL2_IMAGE_INCLUDE_DIRS are NOT set in this case, so using them is meaningless.
